BENGTSON


Cody Arthur Bengtson of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully, with his daughters at his side, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Long Term Care on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 85 years.


Cody was born in Frontier, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1932. When he was three years old, Cody moved with his family to the Leedale area in 1935. He was raised with a large family of eight siblings. Cody later moved to Rimbey where he met and was united in marriage to Kay, and together they raised two daughters. He resided in Rimbey ever since, thoroughly enjoying the community and surrounding areas.

Cody is survived by his loving family: his two daughters, Brenda Lewis (Greg Conway) of Rimbey; and Pam Elliot (Tony Gates) also of Rimbey; and three treasured grandsons: Cody Lewis (Rhea Frank), Dustin Lewis, and Milton Elliot; as well as his cherished great granddaughter, Kinsley Kay Lewis. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Kay Osbaldeston of Rimbey; three sisters: Thelma Murray of Edmonton; Eleanor (John) Komonoski of Calgary; and Sylvia Bengtson of Sylvan Lake; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, additional family members, and many dear friends. Cody was predeceased by his parents, John and Hannah Bengtson; and five siblings: Norma Bunch, Virginia Scanlon, Ruby Farrell, Stan Bengtson, and Fred Bengtson.


A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Cody’s Life was held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. A time of fellowship in Cody’s Honour followed at the Royal Canadian Legion, Rimbey.
