Karen Kay Kirk of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Area Three on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the age of 81 years.


Karen was born on September 25, 1936 in Edmonton, Alberta, and was united in marriage to Chester Kirk in 1954. Throughout their many years of marriage, they farmed in the Rimbey, Ponoka, Bawlf and Daysland areas. Together they shared a life of love and devotion.


Karen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her four sons: John (Debbie) Kirk of Daysland, Alberta; David Kirk of Wetaskiwin; Charles (Kathy) Kirk of Ponoka; and Chester E. (Wanda) Kirk of Camrose; and her three daughters: Kathy (John) Kozak of Vancouver, B.C.; Yvonne Hatley of Lafayette, Louisiana; and Christine Bindr of Red Deer; as well as twenty-two cherished grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by two brothers, Murray (Teresa) Ormberg of Rimbey; and Kris (Mary) Ormberg, also of Rimbey; in addition to nieces, nephews, other family members, and many treasured friends. Karen was predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Lars Ormberg; and her husband, Chester in 2006.


A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Karen’s Life was held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing and Steven Kozak officiating. Interment followed beside her beloved husband, Chester in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
