SUTELA

It is with deeply saddened hearts that we say ‘good-bye’ to our beloved mother, Grams, Great Grams, and dear friend, Marjorie Olive Sutela of the Hespero District. She passed away peacefully at the Royal Oak Village, Lacombe on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the age of 96 years.

Marjorie was born in Eckville, Alberta to Calvin and Mae Fletcher. She resided at her farm after her husband, John passed away in May, 1969, until her illness in 2016. Marjorie then moved to the Royal Oak Villa in Lacombe until her passing. She was very active in the Hespero community; enjoying canvassing for cancer for many years, and she helped start the school reunions for the districts. Marjorie took great pleasure in her handicrafts, and made many quilts throughout the winter months. She also loved gardening, especially flowers; and enjoyed baking, collecting history, and doing search-a-word.

Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her children: Calvin (Gloria) Sutela of Calgary; Shirley (Wilbert) Kendall of Lacombe; Byron (Edith) Sutela of Red Deer; and Susanna (Greig) McDougall of Australia. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Tracy Sutela (Ian Tindall), Cory (Andrea) Sutela, her beloved Kelly Kendall, Mike (Kim) Kendall, Jonathan Sutela, and Christine Sutela (Tyler Lester); her great grandchildren: Zachery, Samantha, Greg, and Benni; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Mae and Cal; her beloved husband, John; an infant son, Joshua in 1946; her brother, Ken; and her sister, Hazel.

With respect for Marjorie’s wishes, a Private Family Graveside Service was held in the Hespero Cemetery on Friday, November 8, 2019 with Pastor Alvin Oberhammer officiating. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Marjorie’s Memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
