GAMMIE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Ross Gammie of Rimbey, Alberta on February 29, 2020 at the age of 65 years. Don was born in Calgary on June 25, 1954; the third child of Ken and Helen Gammie, and a ‘big’ brother to his two older sisters and younger brother. In his youth, he played hockey, basketball, high school football, and junior football with the Calgary Mohawks. Don continued to play flag football in his adult years. He was married to his wife, Joan for 36 years. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Cailey and Lindsay, and expanded the family to include a son-in-law, Brett, and two special grandchildren, Jack and Isla. Don’s working car

IRWIN

Albert C. Irwin of the Gilby, Alberta area passed away peacefully and surrounded in love, with his family by his side, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the age of 79 years. Albert was born on the family farm on April 22, 1940 to Charles and Olga Irwin. He was the youngest of five children. Albert married Darlene Balan on August 31, 1963, and together they made their home and raised their family on the farm that Albert was raised on. He spent the winters in the early years of their marriage in the oil patch, and the summers alongside his wife in the fields seeding, haying and combining, milking cows, and raising beef cattle and pigs. HANCHER

Laverne R. Hancher of Leedale, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Area Two on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Laverne was born on his parent’s farm at Leedale, Alberta, and received his education at the Benjamin School. He helped his dad farm until he turned 21 years old. Laverne then enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Ottawa, where he met his wife and best friend, Kathleen ‘Kay’. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Laverne and Kay moved out west to start farming. Tragedy struck the family on November 10, 1979 when their second son, Dallas, was killed in a motor vehicle accident. Their hearts were broken. In the wint

It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Clara Keith (Morien) of Rimbey, Alberta announces her passing at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the age of 95 years. Ethel will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Gerry (Len) Hough of Stony Plain; and her son, Jim (Pat) Keith of Sherwood Park; in addition to six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.  She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Herb Keith of Rimbey; as well as many additional family members and friends.  Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Sylvanus in 2004; her son, Rod in 2015; her parents, Emma and Luis; two brothers, and one sister; two bro

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Reginald John Damiani of Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Reg was born in Rimbey on September 15, 1928, the youngest of three children born to Dominic and Maria Damiani. He spent his early years on the family farm in the Fuller District west of Rimbey, and attended school at Fuller and Lavesta. Reg began his working career farming for his brother-in-law, Wilfred Marchildon, and then went to work on the drilling rigs, mainly with Regent Drilling.
