RALLISON
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the tragic passing, on Monday, September 2, 2024, of my loving husband Jeffrey Edward Rallison; a loving dad, grandpa–to–be, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Jeff spent his last day enjoying all of the things he loved; which included a sunny morning walk, a visit with his mom and dad, work going smoothly, driving his classic car, and of course, a popsicle at coffee time. He was truly happy, healthy, and full of life.
Born in Red Deer, Alberta on November 11, 1977, Jeff was the youngest of three sons born to Carolyn and Charles Rallison. He grew up west of Rimbey and loved living in the country. He enjoyed the peace and quiet and having so much space to roam. From a young age, Jeff embraced working with, and collecting, classic vehicles. He was an incredible self-taught mechanic. If he brought home a car that hadn’t run in years, in a few hours he’d be backing it out of the shop and driving it around the yard. He loved to find rough classic vehicles to transform into something beautiful. Aside from vehicles, Jeff was very handy. He built multiple buildings as well as a house for us and our family. He was a very creative person and always loved having a challenge to solve. Jeff’s problem-solving mantra was: “Always check the simplest thing first; the problem is usually never as big as we imagine it to be.”
Jeff took pride in being his own person; he didn’t want to be like everyone else. He loved wearing classy shirts that usually consisted of flowers and bright colours, even if he was just picking up bolts at Co-op. He had a contagious sense of humour that brought out the best in everyone. Jeff had a way of making the most mundane errands a trip full of laughs with his wonderfully corny ‘dad jokes’.
Jeff had always been a forward thinker and was so excited to see the changes that were coming with solar power and robotics. When this conversation was sparked, it was so interesting to listen to the seemingly endless knowledge he had about these advances. He thought it would be so cool to have a robot to do all of those things he didn’t want to do!
Jeff also loved the ocean and looked forward every year to escaping to paradise. He especially loved Mexico. He and I travelled there close to 20 times; it was beginning to feel like a home away from home. Jeff felt so happy to sink his toes into the sand, and he couldn’t get into the ocean fast enough; he loved that first plunge. He was always in the water – it made him feel so relaxed and grounded. He had a passion for the Mexican culture and enjoyed learning Spanish.
Jeff was also a giver – he was dedicated to consistently donating blood whenever he could. He proudly donated 34 times. He was also an animal lover to the point of choosing to live a plant-based lifestyle. He adored his fur babies, which included his two Chihuahuas Roxy and Preston, and three cats Milo, Dolly, and Baby. He treated them like his kids. Jeff had the most gentle heart.
Jeff got up with the sun and was always in awe of how beautiful the sunrise was while we enjoyed our coffee on the deck. He loved his morning coffee, it was a huge part of our morning ritual. We loved talking about all of the things we wanted to accomplish. Good conversations always took place while we spent time together. We had big plans for our future, and were so excited to reach them. Jeff was always a driven person who wasn’t afraid of hard work, and when the job was done, it was done well.
Jeff will be deeply missed, but his love, smile, and kindness will endure in those who were fortunate to know him. He is survived by the love of his life Christy; his daughter Jade (Jayce) and soon-to-arrive granddaughter Autumn, his daughter Hannah, and his son Reid. His children will always remember the things he taught them and all the fun, happy times they spent together. Jeff is also survived by his parents Carolyn and Charles Rallison; brothers Mike (Rae-Ann) and Lonnie (Amanda); along with four nephews and a niece. There are so many more I would list, but I wouldn’t know when to stop.
“You were such an incredible man who made life the best that it could be.
I will meet you on our favourite beach someday.”
With respect for Jeff’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to STARS Air Ambulance, Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7 (www.stars.ca); or to Canadian Blood Services, 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1G 4J5 (www.blood.ca).
