With love and precious memories in our hearts, the family of Shirley Maria Littmann (née Mitchell) of Bluffton, Alberta sadly announces her passing. Shirley passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre – Long Term Care on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the age of 91 years.
Shirley was born on January 14, 1935, in Rimbey Alberta. She attended school in her hometown, and then furthered her education by completing high school and secretarial training in Red Deer. Following her studies, Shirley found employment in Edmonton before settling down and marrying Lawrence Littmann in 1954. Together, they raised four sons and homesteaded on 480 acres in the Iola District.
Shirley had a passion for life that was reflected in her many interests. She enjoyed reading, curling, working at Allen B. Olson’s machinery sales, gardening, and taking daily walks. Family gatherings were a cherished part of her life, where her warmth and love shone brightly.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sons Lawrence (Lynda), Ricky (Yvonne), Michael (Terri), and Darin (Marilee); as well as her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Shirley will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Jean (Bill); and two brothers Gerald (Judy) and Roy; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, two brothers, and a niece.
A Funeral Service to Celebrate Shirley’s Life will be held at the Rimbey United Church, 4931 – 51 Avenue, Rimbey on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Leila Currie officiating. Interment will follow in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
