With sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dale Robert Barr of Westerose, Alberta on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the age of 71 years.

Dale was born on August 14, 1955, in Rimbey, Alberta, to Melvin and Ellen Barr.  He was raised and lived in the Rimbey area until 1973.  Upon completing his schooling, Dale relocated as a young man to Jasper, Alberta, where he worked in the construction industry until 1979.

Dale then moved to Edmonton and started his apprenticeship as an electrician, which is when he also joined the electrical union.  He worked at a lot of job sites over the years, spending a few years in Fort McMurray employed at the Syncrude Canada plant as well.  Dale’s last union job was working as an electrician in the new addition at the Genesee Generating Station near Warburg, Alberta.

He really did not care for city life, and in the early 80s Dale was thrilled to buy a little house in Warburg.  He then purchased his farm near Westerose in 1989, where he was ultimately the happiest.  Dale loved farm life and took great pride in raising his cattle.  He also took pleasure in watching an Edmonton Oilers hockey game whenever the opportunity arose.  Dale enjoyed the visits with his brother and family whenever they ventured out to the farm, and he greatly appreciated the lively chats with his neighbours and friends.  He was a simple man that thoroughly enjoyed the simple things in life.

Dale will be lovingly remembered by his brother Gary Barr and Gary’s family from Edmonton.  He will also be deeply missed by many other family members, countless friends, and neighbours.  Dale was predeceased by his parents; along with several additional relatives.

With respect for Dale’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.  If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
