It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Natalie Dubielew (née Mech) of Rimbey, Alberta announces her passing at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 90 years.

Natalie was born on September 28, 1935, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to her parents, Pauline and William Mech, who immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine in 1929.  During her childhood there were moves that took Natalie to locations where the family lived, such as Hobbema and Menaik in Alberta, and then to Fusilier, Saskatchewan where she attended school.  Later, they relocated to Major, Saskatchewan where Natalie attended high school.

Natalie married Stan Dubielew in 1955, and they lived on a ranch in the Heart’s Hill area near Fusilier, where their children were born.  In 1971 the family settled in the Rimbey area, where Natalie continued as a homemaker; taking pleasure in baking, cooking, and preserving fruits and vegetables from her large and bountiful garden.  She also possessed an unending love of reading, enjoying thousands of books in her lifetime.  For several years Natalie worked at the Rimbey Co-op, making many lifelong friends.

Natalie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her five children:  Lanny (Denise) of Rimbey; Kenneth (Della) of Big Lake Ranch, B.C.; Perry of Rimbey; Tish of Gull Lake; and Marc (Terri), also of Rimbey.  She will also be greatly missed by her sister Helen (Don) Burgardt of Edmonton; as well as seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren who adored her. Natalie was predeceased by her parents; her daughter-in-law Brenda; and her grandson Jolby.

A Funeral Service in Celebration of Natalie’s Life will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 5509 – 50 Street, Rimbey on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Father Leon Kler officiating.  Interment will follow in the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton at 2:00 p.m.  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
