With heavy hearts we announce that Kenneth “Ken” Samuel Clement of Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the Centennial Centre, Ponoka on Thursday, May 28, 2026, one day after his 82nd birthday.

Ken was born in Red Deer, Alberta in 1944.  Following his schooling, he went on to study automotive transmission mechanics at SAIT in Calgary.  Ken married his sweetheart, Valerie, in Rimbey, where they settled briefly before moving to property northeast of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.  Together they purchased a paint and wallpaper business in Rocky, which they owned for 12 years.  Ken continued in the mechanics trade while also buying a portable sawmill.  He began sawing special pine lumber and beams used to construct their beautiful home, which they treasured.

Ken also enjoyed many years building his river jet boats.  He continued to enjoy even more years fishing on the many lakes and rivers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.  Ken and Val also took pleasure in several interesting driving vacations through western Canadian and northern American cities and parks, where they appreciated the outdoors and the beautiful scenery along the way.  Ken had a very successful business in the automotive industry, with a passion for antique cars and trucks.

Ken is survived by his wife Valerie; three sons:  Rod Clement and family of Edmonton; Ross Clement and family of Hinton, Alberta; and Robin Clement and family, also of Edmonton; as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and several close friends.  Ken was predeceased by his parents, Winnie and Gil; and one brother Brian.

With respect for Ken’s wishes, no formal funeral ceremony will be held.  If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to the Friends of the Eastern Slopes Association, Box 1441, Sundre, Alberta  T0M 1X0 (www.foesa.org).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
