It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith “Judy” Ellen Smith, of Rimbey, Alberta, who peacefully entered into rest at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of 84 years.

Judy was born on July 6, 1941, to John and Shirley Mustard, in Flin Flon, Manitoba.  She was the oldest of three children and lived a very simple and quiet life in which she was an amazing wife and mother.  Judy didn’t drive, so she lived her life on the farm, and then the acreage, with her husband Ron.  Six years ago, they relocated to the Valley View Manor in Rimbey.  Judy was a voracious reader and would always have a book in her hands.  She also had a fantastic memory and knew dates that most people would forget about.  Judy knew everyone’s name in the Manor, all the staff’s names, and even some of their children’s names.  She blossomed in Rimbey, where her personality shone bright every day.  Judy loved to tease the staff, and even her doctor was not spared her teasing!  Her parting words were always, “You behave yourself and stay out of trouble.”  Which was usually followed with, “I love you!”

Judy will be lovingly remembered by her children Tina (Lee), Ronald Jr. (Robyn), Brent (Allison), and Tracey (Allen); her grandchildren Courtney and Hannah Robson; Alexis, Britney, Dawson, and Jordyn Smith, and Rylee Mallow; Joanna Smith; and Greg Smith; as well as her precious great-grandchildren.  Judy was predeceased by her parents; her husband Ron; along with many other family members.

The family would like to thank the staff of Valley View Manor for making the last six years of Judy’s life some of the best.  They would also like to thank the staff of Area Three in Long Term Care at the Rimbey Hospital for taking such good care of Judy in the last six months she was there, in addition to the kindness shown to the family at the time of her passing.

A Private Graveside Service to Celebrate Judy’s Life with her close, immediate family will take place at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House.  If desired, memorial donations in her memory may be made directly to the War Amps, Key Tag Service, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, Ontario  M1V 5K9  (www.waramps.ca).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
