*CELEBRATION OF LIFE DETAILS UPDATE* Sharon “Sherry” Gail McCreadie of Rimbey, Alberta passed away far too quickly on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the age of 76 years. Goodbyes hurt the most, when the story was not finished… Sherry was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on May 14, 1948, to Audrey and Boris Zurkan. She attended the West Curtis School, and then continued her studies at the Portage Collegiate Institute where she excelled in school life. As a young lady, one of her favourite adventures was attending Expo 67 in Montreal by train. Sherry later enrolled in Mrs. Yonda’s Business School which helped pave the way for her future career. She worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Portage la Prairie during her first years of employment, which was an exciting time for a smart and determined young person. Being one of many female employees, Sherry insisted that they had the right to wear pants at work, and they won! Sherry met the love of her life and best friend, Jim McCreadie, and they were married on October 9, 1971 in Portage la Prairie. Sherry and Jim moved to Alberta in 1981, settling in Fort McMurray. She continued her accounting career with Suncor Energy, Keyano College, and finally with Altech Communications, where she worked until her retirement. Following retirement, Sherry and Jim relocated to Rimbey, where new friends were made quickly in the small community. They spent much of their time volunteering with Central Alberta Raceways, where the racetrack and their home became the hub of many social activities and get-togethers – which Sherry thoroughly enjoyed. Sherry possessed a heartfelt love for many things in her life. She treasured her family and friends immensely and valued any time that was spent entertaining; along with good food, amazing conversation, and lots of laughter. Sherry took pleasure in the beauty of maple trees and she had an eye for great fashion. Some of her favourite activities were gardening, reading, and listening to music; especially the songs of the Beatles that were staple tunes played in her home. Sherry was a ferocious and deeply-loved Mama Bear – an unwavering inspiration to her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. Her love of life and family will live on in our hearts forever! Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim; and her siblings Kal (Val) of McLeese Lake, British Columbia; Wendy of Sylvan Lake; Rodney (Diane) of Big Valley, Alberta; and Tanis (Mike) of Whitemouth, Manitoba. As we pay special tribute to Sherry with cheers to her life well-lived, please feel free to bring along your refreshment of choice. With immense sadness in our hearts, we share the passing of the beautiful Brenda Lee Dubielew (née Craig) of Hoadley, Alberta. She passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the age of 64 years. Brenda gave so much love to everyone she met, and she was surrounded by that same love as she left us. She was often considered a second mom to many. If you had the privilege of being in her presence and experiencing her love, you were one of the lucky ones. Brenda was born on September 11, 1960 in Calgary, Alberta. She moved to Rimbey 4–5 years after her parents, Daird and Pat Craig, relocated to the area. It was in Rimbey where Brenda met the love of her life, Perry Dubielew. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four amazing children. This year they celebrated 41 years of marriage. Brenda’s purpose in life was her family. She gave everything in her heart to her husband and children Josh, Joelle, Jennah, and Jelayne. She was beyond proud of each of them; and because of her, they are who they are today. From attending every sports game, to modeling for zombie make-up, sewing everything she was asked to create, babysitting, or being a shoulder to cry on – Brenda gave her heart to her family. Her love extended not only to her immediate family, but also to her parents, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. When her grandchildren arrived, Brenda wrapped them in unconditional love, as she did with everyone around her. She never asked for anything in return; just knowing she could brighten someone’s day filled her heart with joy. Her selflessness is beyond words. Brenda and Perry created a life filled with love and countless cherished memories. Through life’s ups and downs, they endured – inspiring their children and grandchildren with their love. Brenda was a giver and a creative soul, especially when it came to sewing. She crafted extravagant quilts, baby blankets, Halloween bags for every child she knew, and anything else that was requested. She never turned away from a challenge, and found immense joy in gifting handmade pieces that were infused with love. Brenda touched so many hearts, and so many will feel this loss. She will always be remembered for the amazing woman she was. Her strength will carry on in everyone she touched as they navigate this loss. Brenda is survived by her loving husband Perry; her son Josh (Emily), her daughters Joelle (Jono), Jennah (Dallas), and Jelayne; as well as her beloved grandchildren Dylan, Linken, Fallon, Reese, Tucker, Marlowe, and Miller. She is also remembered by her massive family of Dubielews, Stouts, Craigs, and Lethbridges; along with her many friends and those who considered her a second mom. Brenda was predeceased by her parents. With respect for Brenda’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will take place in the summer of 2025. She will be laid to rest with her mom and dad in the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton at a later date. Brenda had a deep love for baseball and basketball, and was a star in both sports. To honour her memory, the family would greatly appreciate memorial donations made directly to the Rimbey/Bluffton Minor Ball Association, by mail to: Box 167, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; or by e-transfer to: treasurer@rimbeyblufftonminorball.com . Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page. “As the seasons change, we learn it’s okay to let go of things we thought would be forever. Nature shows us that in life there is death and rebirth; that there are seasons of darkness and light. As we settle into a season of darkness, we know there will be light one day again. Healing comes as we sit in the darkness; and as the light shines to bring the flowers back in the spring, the light of this beautiful woman will shine forever on all of us.” The family would like to thank everyone for their incredible support. It has been overwhelming and heartwarming to see the love pouring in and the stories shared. The Dubielew Family is filled with gratitude for everyone standing by them during this difficult time. They know this is not a goodbye, but rather, “See you in the stars, in the moon, in the wind, in the earth, in dreams, beyond the rainbows, and when a Blue Jay lands on a branch to say hello.” As Brenda often said, “It’s going to be okay – just believe.” Forever missed, loved, and never forgotten… Brenda will live on in the love and memories shared by all who knew her. - RALLISON
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the tragic passing, on Monday, September 2, 2024, of my loving husband Jeffrey Edward Rallison ; a loving dad, grandpa–to–be, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jeff spent his last day enjoying all of the things he loved; which included a sunny morning walk, a visit with his mom and dad, work going smoothly, driving his classic car, and of course, a popsicle at coffee time. He was truly happy, healthy, and full of life. Born in Red Deer, Alberta on November 11, 1977, Jeff was the youngest of three sons born to Carolyn and Charles Rallison. He grew up west of Rimbey and loved living in the country. He enjoyed the peace and quiet and having so much space to roam. From a young age, Jeff embraced working with, and collecting, classic vehicles. He was an incredible self-taught mechanic. If he brought home a car that hadn’t run in years, in a few hours he’d be backing it out of the shop and driving it around the yard. He loved to find rough classic vehicles to transform into something beautiful. Aside from vehicles, Jeff was very handy. He built multiple buildings as well as a house for us and our family. He was a very creative person and always loved having a challenge to solve. Jeff’s problem-solving mantra was: “Always check the simplest thing first; the problem is usually never as big as we imagine it to be.” Jeff took pride in being his own person; he didn’t want to be like everyone else. He loved wearing classy shirts that usually consisted of flowers and bright colours, even if he was just picking up bolts at Co-op. He had a contagious sense of humour that brought out the best in everyone. Jeff had a way of making the most mundane errands a trip full of laughs with his wonderfully corny ‘dad jokes’. Jeff had always been a forward thinker and was so excited to see the changes that were coming with solar power and robotics. When this conversation was sparked, it was so interesting to listen to the seemingly endless knowledge he had about these advances. He thought it would be so cool to have a robot to do all of those things he didn’t want to do! Jeff also loved the ocean and looked forward every year to escaping to paradise. He especially loved Mexico. He and I travelled there close to 20 times; it was beginning to feel like a home away from home. Jeff felt so happy to sink his toes into the sand, and he couldn’t get into the ocean fast enough; he loved that first plunge. He was always in the water – it made him feel so relaxed and grounded. He had a passion for the Mexican culture and enjoyed learning Spanish. Jeff was also a giver – he was dedicated to consistently donating blood whenever he could. He proudly donated 34 times. He was also an animal lover to the point of choosing to live a plant-based lifestyle. He adored his fur babies, which included his two Chihuahuas Roxy and Preston, and three cats Milo, Dolly, and Baby. He treated them like his kids. Jeff had the most gentle heart. Jeff got up with the sun and was always in awe of how beautiful the sunrise was while we enjoyed our coffee on the deck. He loved his morning coffee, it was a huge part of our morning ritual. We loved talking about all of the things we wanted to accomplish. Good conversations always took place while we spent time together. We had big plans for our future, and were so excited to reach them. Jeff was always a driven person who wasn’t afraid of hard work, and when the job was done, it was done well. Jeff will be deeply missed, but his love, smile, and kindness will endure in those who were fortunate to know him. He is survived by the love of his life Christy; his daughter Jade (Jayce) and soon-to-arrive granddaughter Autumn, his daughter Hannah, and his son Reid. His children will always remember the things he taught them and all the fun, happy times they spent together. Jeff is also survived by his parents Carolyn and Charles Rallison; brothers Mike (Rae-Ann) and Lonnie (Amanda); along with four nephews and a niece. There are so many more I would list, but I wouldn’t know when to stop. “You were such an incredible man who made life the best that it could be. I will meet you on our favourite beach someday.” With respect for Jeff’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to STARS Air Ambulance, Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7 ( www.stars.ca ); or to Canadian Blood Services, 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1G 4J5 ( www.blood.ca ). - JOHNSON
Forever Remembered – Forever Loved – Forever Missed With broken hearts, the family of Lorene Ellen Johnson of Rimbey, Alberta announces her passing at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 93 years. Lorene was born at Donalda, Alberta on August 7, 1931. She was the second eldest of eight children, and grew up in the Donalda area. Lorene married William Johnson on December 23, 1947. After Christmas they moved to Summerland, B.C., and in April of 1948 they moved back to Donalda and farmed with William’s father. They moved into a beautiful two-story farmhouse with William’s parents, that his father had built. Lorene would always help out with the fall harvest by driving the grain truck into town. In the spring of 1954, together with their first three children, Carol, Wayne, and Gail, they bought their own farm in the Donalda area, with William still helping on his father’s farm. While living there, three more children, Donna, Randy, and Terry, were born. In August of 1961, Lorene and William purchased a farm west of Hoadley. This is where the last of their seven children, Christina, was born. While in Hoadley, they raised dairy cows. Everyone enjoyed fresh milk and cream, and from that there was delightful homemade puddings, whipped cream for desserts, cottage cheese, butter, and buttermilk; but best of all, was the homemade ice cream! There was never a time when there wasn’t fresh baking to be had, and the children remember getting off the school bus to the wonderful aroma of freshly-baked bread and cinnamon buns at least once a week. Delicious homemade meals were always made with homegrown vegetables that were meticulously cared for in a huge garden. What couldn’t be eaten fresh was put into the freezer or canned for future use. Tame and wild raspberries and strawberries were always picked to enjoy. Canned fruits, jams, jellies, relishes, and pickles were also in abundance. Lorene also created an array of beautiful flowers, with her favourite flower being the rose. Summer vacations were taken every summer when the children were out of school. The trips were usually out to B.C. to visit relatives. There was a continuous admiration for the mountains while driving through them or camping overnight in the park campgrounds. In August of 1974, Lorene and William had a farm sale and retired back to Summerland, B.C. In 1981 they relocated to Camrose, Alberta to be closer to family, as family meant everything to them. In April, 1989, William became ill and passed away that same month, leaving Lorene a widow at the young age of 57 years. She sold her home in Camrose in 1991 and settled in Rimbey. In 2012 when Lorene was 80 years old, she moved into a smaller home with a much smaller yard. In June of 2023, at the age of 91 years, Lorene moved into Rimbey Long Term Care until the time of her passing. Lorene was always kind, generous, and loving. Her children meant everything to her, and she loved and cherished them deeply. Her most treasured moments were when they would come for a visit. She especially enjoyed the family gatherings that were held. Lorene also possessed a love for animals. She particularly liked dogs, and there was never a time when a dog was not cherished by her and William. Later in life she consistently had a little furry friend to keep her company. Even after her move into Long Term Care, Lorene quite often talked about getting another little dog. Lorene will be lovingly remembered by her five children Wayne (Linda) Johnson of Camrose; Donna (Herb) Schwingel of Bluffton; Randy (Carla) Johnson of Camrose; Terry (Annette) Johnson also of Camrose; and Christina (Mark) Sperber of Ponoka. She will also be sadly missed by twenty-three grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and nine great, great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members. Lorene was predeceased by her husband William in 1989; daughter Gail Cox in 2005; and daughter Carol Swan in 2018; as well as her son-in-law; and five brothers and two sisters. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Lorene’s Life will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 4810 – 50 Street, Camrose on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Bev Swanson officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband William in the Valleyview Cemetery, Camrose. Cecelia Sephonia Robicheau (née Patton) of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the age of 84 years. Cecelia was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta to Francis “Frank” and Eleane (née Blair) Patton on September 27, 1939. She was the second child born in the family of seven children. Cecelia was united in marriage to John Benjamin “Ben” Robicheau in 1958. They moved to Red Deer, Alberta, and together raised their three boys. Cecelia joined the Women of the Moose Lodge, Red Deer Chapter 1460 on March 10, 1963. She earned the highest achievement of her College of Regents, as well as her Star Recorder Degree. Cecelia was a very proud 61 year member, being honoured with a lifetime membership. Known for her meticulous work ethic as an executive housekeeper at Michener Centre, in addition to being independently contracted throughout Red Deer, Cecelia was never afraid to get her hands dirty. Quite often she could also be found in her garden tending to her flowers, growing food from the “good, old earth”, and picking berries throughout Central Alberta. She taught others not to waste, as scraps are fertilizer for growth. Cecelia’s most treasured moments were when she was surrounded by her friends and family. She lived for making a connection with others; and she thoroughly loved a good conversation, a chance to share stories, and a tasty cup of tea. A good story was told by a traveller, and travel was something Cecelia also loved to do! She took in the sights of Canada from west to east, never turning down a road trip. Cecelia believed everyone needed culture in their lives. She once said, “If you don’t have the money to travel the world, then learn about it from the people around you.” Cecelia never wanted to forget a moment, a face, a date, or a name; capturing many of those special memories on video or on a notepad. She also adored the Royal Family, and in her downtime when she needed to unwind, you would find her engulfed in a book. Whenever she was faced with adversity, Cecelia would never give up. She was a fighter, as many would know her. She walked through life with the strength of ten men, and was never afraid of a challenge. Yet, under this lion was a gentle cub that always wanted to explore, learn, and grow. Her remarkable footprints will forever be missed. Cecelia is survived by her eldest son John (Debbie) Robicheau; her cherished grandchildren Sarah Robicheau, Amanda (Michael Henry) Robicheau-Henry, Luke Robicheau, and Mathew Robicheau; as well as her treasured great-grandchildren Kayla Robicheau, Jordyn Henry, and James Robicheau. She is also survived by her siblings John (Sheirly) Patton, Dorthy May Patton, and Victor (Rosella Buhr) Patton. Cecelia was predeceased by her husband Ben; two sons Victor and David; and her sisters Frances Hanzle, Yvonne Chaytors, and Annette Gallant. A Family Graveside Service will be held at the Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary, where Cecelia will be laid to rest on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A community Celebration of her Life will take place at a later date. With beautiful memories locked inside our hearts, our family announces the peaceful passing of Darlene L. Irwin of Gilby, Alberta. Darlene passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 79 years. Darlene was born in Rimbey, Alberta on November 8, 1944, to John and Ruth Balan. Their family farmed in the Willesden Green area northwest of Rimbey. Darlene was the second child of seven children. She attended a local country school, and then lived in Rimbey with various families while completing her high school education. Darlene met her future husband, Albert Irwin, at a local wedding dance when she was fifteen years old. They were married on August 31, 1963, and together made their home and raised their family on the farm that Albert was raised on in the Gilby District. Darlene worked alongside her husband in every aspect of farming; anything from spring seeding, haying, combining, hauling grain, and fencing. She helped build sheds and worked on machinery with Albert. When not busy in the field, there were cows to milk morning and night, pigs to feed, and chickens to raise and butcher. On top of all that, Darlene always planted a big garden. She froze vegetables, canned fruit, and made wonderful jams, relishes, and pickles. Darlene was also a fantastic cook, and could make a meal out of anything. There was always room at the table if someone showed up. Cake and coffee were always ready just in case company came for a visit. Darlene loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She would bake a special cake or treat for the person celebrating their birthday, and always knew their favourite! Darlene also possessed a love of flowers and enjoyed planting and tending to them; and had beautiful flower beds to show for all her hard work. She took great pride in keeping her yard looking neat and tidy. Darlene will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters Brenda (Jesse) Dial of Rimbey, Jeanette (Kelly) Towle of Rimbey, and Angela (Darren) Lagace of Rocky Mountain House. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Dustin (Megan) Dial, Casey (Dustin) Lethbridge, Bailey (Paul) Thijssen, Taylor Towle (Everett Bouchard), Spencer Lagace, and Carter Lagace; four precious great-grandchildren Moxon and Brynn Lethbridge, and Mason and Kysen Dial; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and several close friends. And each day He gathers His blossoms. His heavenly home to surround. He gathers a few tiny rose buds, earth’s precious wee babies so sweet. The large buds, earth’s children and teenaged, in heaven to God are a treat. Our adults, His blossoms so radiant. With textures and colours untold. The flowers most full and most open, are earth’s precious aged and old. Its daily He gathers His flowers. He lovingly forms His bouquets. That day, as He gathered His blossoms, your loved one was taken away. But remember the beauty and fragrance; the colours, the petals, the thorns For now in the glory in Heaven, your loved one God’s home does adorn. Cremation Arrangements for the Late Diana Mary B. - HALL
Douglas “Doug” Bruce Hall of Winfield, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Monday, February 12, 2024, just shy of his 85th birthday. Doug was born in Eckville, Alberta and spent most of his adult life living in Red Deer and working for Canada Post. He moved to Winfield in 1992 after he retired, and was soon joined by his best friend and companion, Annis Bovbjerg, to start building their retirement home together, and settle into their new community. Doug had many hobbies over the years, but his most recent passion was building hot rod cars. He would spend way too many hours at auctions, in car part stores, and scouring everywhere looking for car bits and pieces – that usually sat on the lawn much to Annis’ dismay! Doug would spend hours out in the shop tinkering, fixing, upholstering (with Annis’ help), and painting to create some pretty amazing cars. He was very proud of one car in particular; a 1938 Plymouth, four-door hot rod sedan in fire orange. Doug would take this beauty to parades, local Show and Shine events, and take his family and friends out for a rip. Doug will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter Kim (Hank) Leonhardt of Victoria, British Columbia; grandsons Eric (Alexandra) Roy of Montreal, Quebec and Joel Roy of Gatineau, Quebec; and great-granddaughter Leia Sandu-Roy; as well as his two stepdaughters Annette (John) Cusworth of Ladner, British Columbia and Rhonda Bovbjerg (Bill) of Langley, British Columbia; and grandchildren Riley Bovbjerg, Caitlin Cusworth (Jesse), and Natasha Cusworth. He will also be deeply missed by many treasured friends, with extra thanks to his friends Albert Brandl, Kevin Johnson, and Judy Pentland who helped Doug so much during his final time. Doug was predeceased by Annis; his parents Gladys and stepfather Lyle Fidler; and his siblings Dean, Alberta, Keith, and Mona. With respect for Doug’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice. - HARTMAN
With sweet memories we won’t ever forget, our hearts ache as we announce the passing of Shelly-Lynn Hartman of Bluffton, Alberta. Shelly passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the age of 56 years. With the wind blowing through her hair and the sun on her back, Shelly has gone riding… On September 30, 1967, Shelly was born to Floyd and Shirley Hartman. Her arrival in this world was long-awaited, and they were so excited when she finally made her entrance. The young family lived in Calgary for a time, relocating in 1976 to Hoadley, Alberta where they operated the Hoadley General Store. Together with her parents and her brother Kurt, Shelly worked in the store as she grew up. Along the way, Floyd and Shirley purchased the Winfield Shop Right store, where again both kids helped with the day-to-day tasks of that business as well. Shelly attended the Bluffton School, relocating to the Bentley Christian Training Centre to finish her junior high and high school education. She was a very determined and able person, and was very keen to achieve great things. Whatever it was that she wanted to accomplish, she sure did! As a young person, Shelly figure skated at a high level of competition, and taught skating lessons too. She enrolled into a secretarial college in Regina, Saskatchewan, and that started a new adventure of employment opportunities that opened many doors for her. Shelly worked a couple of stints at Circle Square Ranch in Halkirk, Alberta; she worked for a few newspapers, the Rimbey Record and the Ponoka newspaper as a photographer, reporter, and a typesetter; and she also worked at the Sundre Round-up paper as a typesetter as well. The girl could certainly proofread and type! Shelly was always looking for any new opportunities, and she absolutely loved to learn. This desire then sent her to Red Deer College, where she took courses as an educational assistant. Returning back home, Shelly worked at the Bluffton School for a while, and it was during this time that she married and moved to Stettler, where her son Jackson was born. Her aspirations to move forward in life enabled her to later return to Red Deer College to upgrade her studies in the line of social work. Shelly further excelled in this endeavour, and took the bold step of moving with Jackson to Drumheller where she could perform her duties in the field of social work. Shelly then received an opportunity to further advance her education again, registering in many additional courses that would eventually gain employment as a probation officer. This was truly Shelly’s passion. Together with her son they embarked on a new journey, moving to Edson where she served in Alberta’s correctional services for several years. As a probation officer, this was Shelly’s life’s work. She found fulfillment in the profession, and she was good at it. There were a couple of “near misses” that almost took her life, but that did not deter her. She was an independent woman, and she loved that attribute in herself. As a mother, Shelly absolutely loved following Jackson around with all of his extra-curricular activities, especially when pursuing his passion for basketball. She treasured having a house full of his friends, particularly when there was always a dinner table full of boys. Shelly loved every second of being a great mom. Shelly was also an avid traveller, and loved to venture on trips – some destinations that were planned – and others where she was just “winging it”! When Shelly’s mom passed away, they returned to Red Deer where she finished up her work for the government, and retired from the profession she always took the greatest pride in. From time-to-time Shelly would bring out “the badge”… and what a smile that would give her! Upon her retirement, Shelly moved back to Bluffton where she found a new passion, her Spyder! She purchased it outright after consulting with her brother and doing tons of research online. She even took a course in Red Deer to become a full-fledged, and fully-licensed rider. Shelly fell in love with letting the wind blow her hair back. Donning black leathers and a purple dew-rag, with a phone full of her favourite Post Malone rap music, “Shel Storm” was reborn. She travelled with her friends, Kim, Jodi, and Kristen, and nothing could stop her! She loved her ride and loved hitting the open road, even if it was simply going to Bluffton for the mail! She always joined in on family rides, and was thrilled to take her dad on Father’s Day for a “little rip”. Shelly was so happy to transport her passengers whenever it was needed, but mostly, her little niece Meg was her constant companion. Shelly had every reason to be proud of herself. This little baby girl that struggled her whole life with illness, accomplished many things in her short lifetime. She became a mentor and a force to be reckoned with. Shelly will be forever remembered and sorely missed by many. May she eternally rest in peace. “We love you, “Shel Storm # 4”! Shelly leaves behind her loving son Jackson Alm of Red Deer; her brother Kurt (Kim) Hartman of Bluffton; and her father Floyd (Judy) Hartman of Bluffton. She also leaves behind her niece, Kristen (Derek) Gully of Rimbey; her nephew John (Brandy) Hartman of Bluffton; as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews Nathan, Rebecca, Jordyn, Megan, and Cora; in addition to many additional family members and countless treasured friends. Shelly was predeceased by her mother Shirley in 2018. A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Shelly’s Life will be held at the Hoadley Community Hall on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with Kim Hartman hosting. Shelly will be laid to rest, together with her mother Shirley, in the Hoadley Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial donations in her memory may be made directly to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, #600, 3250 Bloor Street West, East Tower, Toronto, Ontario M8X 2X9 (www.cpff.ca). With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Evelyn Watts of Rimbey, Alberta. Yvonne experienced a decline in her health in recent weeks, quietly passing away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the age of 89 years. Yvonne was born in Kelso, Saskatchewan on June 7, 1934, to Albert and Florence Pierlot. She was the third child of eight children raised on a pioneer farm through the Depression years. Yvonne’s family worked hard and continually aspired for a better life, eventually relocating and settling in Rimbey across the road from the Watts farm. Upon graduating high school in Rimbey, her plans of attending pharmacy school were soon derailed with the meeting of the love of her life, Bruce Watts. They were united in marriage shortly after on November 11, 1953. Yvonne and Bruce began a family and a farm. Together they raised their four children to understand the value of hard work, and the importance of a life full of experiences. Horsemanship, skiing, and enjoying the great outdoors of Alberta and British Columbia were their rewards. Sadly, Yvonne lost Bruce at a very young age, but through stoic vitality and perseverance she continued on. She raised their children with good sense and strength, and maintained the family farm for the rest of her life. Family, friends, her church, and the community were the cornerstones of life for Yvonne. She possessed a sense of duty and felt sincere enjoyment in helping others; volunteering was in her DNA. The United Church, Meals on Wheels, and checking in on countless friends and family filled her days. She will be missed by many. Yvonne is survived by her children LeeAnne (Tim), Collin (Nita), Lyle, and Cherie; her grandchildren Marnie (Keith), Sheleen, Michael (Suzanne), Remi (Alexis), Reed (Shenelle), Tommi (James), Lazlo, Liam, Hanna, and Robert; in addition to her great-grandchildren Evie, Holden, Emma, Katie, as well as a baby boy, and a baby girl.
