STANNARD

With sadness we announce that Donald “Don” Victor Stannard of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

 

Don was born on May 24, 1933 in Vulcan, Alberta.  He was the ninth child of ten children born to John and Blanche (née Booth) Stannard.  In his lifetime, Don was a dedicated logger, farmer, and rancher.  He farmed in the Winfield, Alberta area for sixty years.  Don’s lifestyle wasn’t just about caring for the animals or the land, but about sincere beliefs and values passed down through the generations to ensure things are left better for those yet to come.  He leaves behind a lasting legacy…

 

Don will be remembered by his children Vickie Schultz of Red Deer; Kelly Stannard of Eckville; and Jody (Calvin) Leslie of Winfield; three grandchildren Rhonda (Donnie) of Olds; Colin of Winfield; and Tabitha (Tyler) of Simi Valley, California; as well as two treasured great-granddaughters Camdyn and Presley of Olds.  He will also be greatly missed by his brother Joe (Dolly) Stannard of Spruceview.  Don was predeceased by his partner and best friend Elaine Dorchester; son-in-law Barrie Schultz; six brothers and two sisters; in addition to the mother of his children Georgina.  As well, he will be missed by Elaine’s family, her daughter Laura (Dennis), and her son Wes (Mary) and their families; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends and neighbours.

 

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at the Rimbey Seniors Drop-in Centre, 5110 – 53 Avenue, Rimbey on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Marco Williams-Ste-Marie officiating.  If desired, memorial donations in Don’s memory may be made directly to Arthritis Society Canada, Suite 1700, 393 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario  M5G 1E6 (www.arthritis.ca).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
