BARRY

With memories filling our hearts, it is with sadness that we announce that Naomi Joan Barry of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Naomi was born to Mike and Betty Prediger in Castor, Alberta on July 26, 1939.  In 1956, she was united in marriage to her lifetime love, Joe.  Their life together was soon filled with excitement as they began their family, welcoming their first son Joe.  The young family soon grew with the birth of their daughter Brenda.  After moving from Calgary to Blackfalds, another daughter, Kathy, was born; and their family was finally complete with the addition of their youngest son John.

In 1974, the family relocated from Blackfalds to an acreage north of Lacombe, which is where Naomi resided for several wonderful years until her health forced her to settle into the Lacombe Long Term Care Centre.  In addition to being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Naomi also worked for the Sears Department Store for many years.  She was the assistant manager of the Sears location in Red Deer, and then the manager of the Sears store in Ponoka.  Naomi also spent much of her time outdoors, enjoying any opportunity to tend to her numerous plants and shrubs on the acreage.

Naomi will be forever loved and remembered by her children Joe (Elaine) Barry, Brenda Barry, Kathy (Jeff) Schneider, and John (Kelly) Barry; as well as eight grandchildren Carmen (Leighton), Megan (Matt), Dana (Dennis), R.J. (Kari), Kryssie (Yanick), Katelyn, Mike (Tami), and Jamey; and twelve great-grandchildren Kenyan, Peyton, Ella, Aralynn, Jack, Brayden, Gage, Keannah (Luberson), Landon (Kristyn), Nick, Bryden, and Ryelan.  She is also survived by her sister Diane (Arnold) Eisenbeis; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.  Naomi was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband Joe in 2007; her daughter-in-law Denise; sister Marlene; brother Garry; and sister-in-law Maureen.

A Family Graveside Service in Celebration of Naomi’s Life will be held at the Blackfalds Cemetery, Blackfalds on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., with Deacon Claude Baril presiding.  Following the Graveside Service, family and friends are invited for a time of fellowship and refreshments in the Banquet Room of the Eagle Builders Centre, 5302 Broadway Avenue, Blackfalds.  If desired, memorial donations in Naomi’s memory may be made directly to the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care, c/o Lacombe Health Trust, Box 5663, Lacombe, Alberta  T4L 1X3 (www.lacombehealthtrust.com).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
