BREWSTER


James “Jim” W. Brewster of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Acute Care on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the age of 85 years.


Jim was born on August 30, 1931 in Calgary, Alberta, the oldest in the family of four. He grew up in Banff, was a true cowboy, skier, and all-around athlete. Jim’s work included: horse wrangler, hunting guide, worked for Brewster Transport as a driver, and later as management. He met the love of his life, Alma, and they were married in 1955. They spent the next 23 years in the Banff/Jasper area. Jim and Alma were partners in the Brewster Guest Ranch at Seebe, Alberta. They then moved from there to a farm in Hoadley where Jim raised cattle and farmed while working for Alberta Transportation. When Jim and Alma retired, they spent a short time in Canmore and then returned to Rimbey. Jim loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his many friends.


Jim will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children: Kate Lee (Gerry Winters) of Rimbey; Trish Brewster of Jasper; and John (Tammy) Brewster of Rimbey; as well as his seven cherished grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his brother, Joe Brewster of Kelowna, B.C.; his sister, Sheilagh MacGregor of Sundre; in addition to several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Alma in 2013; and one sister, Evelyn Whitelaw.


A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Jim's Life was held at the Liberty Hall on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
