With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen ‘Kay’ Anastasia Bauer of Rimbey, Alberta. Kay passed away with her loving friends by her side at Bethany, Sylvan Lake on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 84 years.


Kay will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sister, Pauline Niemi of Edmonton; her stepbrother, Alex Kowalski also of Edmonton; and her cherished friends, Patricia and Patrick Alexander of the Carlos District, and their family: Tracey, Kim, Beau, and Tina; and Diane and Larry Giesbrecht of Peace River and their family, who Kay fondly treasured as her adopted grandchildren and great grandchildren: Tamara (Jeff) Dawson of Sherwood Park and their children, Brooke and Carter; and Crystal (Joe) Brunham of Grande Prairie and their children, Bekah and Ben. She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, several other family members, and many additional special friends. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 1996; her parents, Korney and Anastasia Lesenko; her sisters: Mary, Amelia ‘Kay’, Julia, and Terry; and her brothers: Victor, Ludwig ‘Jim’, Walter, and Paul.

A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Kay’s Life was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rimbey on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Schultz officiating. Following the service, Kay was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Albert in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
