PICKETTS


Alice Picketts of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the age of 87 years.


Alice was born in Rimbey on February 9, 1932. Following high school she met her first husband, John MacDonald and they had four children: Nick, Jean, Rick, and John. They lived in the Niagara region of Ontario in St. Catharines and Queenston. Alice and John divorced, and in 1974 Alice was united in marriage to Russell Picketts. They were married for over 45 years and enjoyed many adventures together. Alice loved to garden and travel. She also took great pleasure in spending many years in Rimbey at the Drop-In Centre, floor curling and playing bridge. Alice and Russell spent endless hours with their grandchildren and children; traveling to B.C., Ontario, and throughout Alberta. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.


Alice will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Russell; her children: Nick (Charlotte) MacDonald of St. Catharines, Ontario; Jean (Roman) Bachynsky of West Kelowna, B.C.; Rick (Sandy) MacDonald of Lake Country, B.C.; and John (Cora) MacDonald of Niagara Falls, Ontario; as well as nine grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by Russell’s children: Annette (Gary) Carmichael of Calgary; Colleen (Ken) Parker also of Calgary; and Brian (Ann) Picketts of Edmonton; in addition to eight additional grandchildren, eleven additional great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many dear friends. Alice was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Sarah Wilson; Russell’s son, Dwayne Picketts; her brothers: Roy, Alan, Dan, Herb, and Ran; and her sisters: Roxy, Eileen, and Janet.


A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Alice’s Life was held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Marco Ste-Marie officiating. Interment followed in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
