MOORE

Josephine Olive Moore of Rimbey, Alberta, formerly of Olds, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Monday, August 3, 2020 at the age of 100 years.

Josie was born at Lake McGregor, Alberta on January 20, 1920. She was united in marriage to Paul Newton, and they had three children: Ben, Victor, and Patricia. They resided in the Alberta communities of Dalemead, Rainier, Rockyford, and Calgary before moving to Penticton, B.C. when Paul retired. After Paul passed away in 1983, Josie moved back to Calgary a year later to be closer to family. Later, while wintering in Arizona, Josie met Fred Moore. They were married in 1993, and had ten happy years together residing in Innisfail. After marrying Fred the family grew, adding two stepdaughters and two stepsons. When Fred passed away, Josie moved to the Manor in Olds, and eventually into the Lodge. In 2016, she resided at the Long Term Care Centre in Rimbey to be closer to her daughter. Josie loved cooking, baking, camping, and fishing; and enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and games as well. Her family will always remember mom’s great meals and baking. It didn’t matter when you went to visit, the coffee pot was always on – and there was always something deliciously baked to go with that coffee!

Josie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ben (Yvonne); and her daughter, Patricia; as well as her stepsons, Alf and Frank; and stepdaughters, Judy and Shelley. She was also delighted to enjoy thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Josie was predeceased by her parents, John and Grace Christoffersen; her loving husbands, Paul and Fred; her son, Victor; a granddaughter, Sheri; her sons-in-law, Ken and Larry; daughters-in-law, Audrey and Donna; and her siblings, four brothers and three sisters.

“Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She will be greatly missed.”

A Family Graveside Service was held at the Mountain View Cemetery, Calgary on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., where Josie was laid to rest. Condolence messages may be forwarded to the family by visiting: www.ofc-ltd.ca
