LOWE

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Robert Lowe of Rimbey, Alberta on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, with his family by his side. Dave lost his battle with cancer and is now at peace.

Dave was born in Lacombe, Alberta on February 3, 1946 to Percy and Verona Lowe. He spent his childhood on a farm in the Aurora District where he attended the Aurora School, and then completed his schooling in Lacombe. Dave apprenticed as a sheet metal mechanic in Calgary, attended SAIT and earned his journeyman sheet metal mechanic ticket. Through the years he was a “jack-of-all-trades” – backhoe and cat operator, trucker, mechanic, and carpenter – he could pretty much do whatever he turned his hand to!

On July 27, 1968 Dave married Beverly Casey, and while residing in Calgary their two children, Tracy and Troy, were born. In August of 1978 he moved his family, to raise his children in the country, to the Last West area, west of Rimbey, where he resided until his passing. Dave loved visiting with family and friends, and always had lots of stories to tell! He belonged to the Blindman Valley Rod and Gun Club, and enjoyed going to gun shows with his son and “the good ole boys!” Dave liked to shoot skeets and target practice, but often came home rather disgusted because – “I can’t hit the broad side of a barn!” In the summer of 2019 he enjoyed a trip to Newfoundland, a highlight of his life, with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Beverly; his daughter Tracy Davis (Jamie); and his son Troy Lowe (Tresa), all of Rimbey; as well as eight grandchildren: Cassidy Bravo, Cole Street, Breanne Lowe, Brooke Lowe, Avery Lowe, Addison Lowe, Katie Davis, and Tyler Davis. He also leaves behind his sister Ramona Stewart (Larry); one aunt Nedra Pollock; his nieces Laurie Rachar (Darryl), and Carrie Nimko (Reg); sisters-in-law Gail Casey (Norris), and Shauna Taylor (Jack); and his brother-in-law Darryl Casey (Julie); in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Verona; an infant sister Virginia, and two brothers, Kenneth and Melvin.

“Dave, you will be greatly missed!”

Dave’s Family gathered to celebrate his life at a later date.
