Arnold Duane Boettger of Rimbey, Alberta was born 89 years ago to Elmer and Agnes Boettger at Didsbury, Alberta.  Arnold passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Centennial Centre, Ponoka on Saturday, July 26, 2025.  He will be greatly missed.

Arnold spent many years working with his father on the family farm northwest of Rimbey.  In 1972, he moved to Red Deer and worked for Alberta Transportation in a career that spanned 25 years.  While in Red Deer, Arnold met his soulmate, Muriel, and they were united in marriage on May 18, 1974.  Arnold and Muriel later returned to the family farm near Rimbey, where Arnold went to work for Nikirk Brothers, driving his own truck.  They resided on the farm for several years before relocating into town in 2002.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Muriel; his sister Louise Balan of Rimbey, and her family; his sister-in-law Doreen (Jim) Reimer of Nelson, B.C., and their family; and his brother-in-law Garry Schafer of Olds, and his family. He is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews; along with numerous other family members and cherished friends.  Arnold was predeceased by his parents; his brother Harold; and two sisters Jean Larratt and Marilyn Welikoklad; as well as his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, two nephews, and one niece.

A special heartfelt thank you is extended to Shirley (Gerald) Grutterink, Bruce (Shirley) Balan, and Deb Womacks; in addition to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Aurora Unit at the Centennial Centre, Ponoka.

With respect for Arnold’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.  If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
