BORTHWICK

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Annette Marie Borthwick (née Liner) at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, Edmonton on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the age of 73 years, with her loving family by her side.

Annette was born on December 28, 1949, to Harry and Marie Liner of Rimbey, Alberta. She was raised on the family farm until she married Jim and started a family of her own. Annette had a great love for family, and was the best grandma ever to her three grandchildren Hinton, Nathan, and Morgan. She had a passion for reading, home decorating, baking, and an infinite love of Christmas. Annette had a soft spot for neglected or abused animals, and saved any animal that she could give a better life to. She had two major careers after her children left home. Firstly, as an insurance agent; and after going back to school at the age of 52 years, she became the accountant/office manager for Millwrights Union 1460 in Edmonton, a job she loved until her retirement in 2012. Annette was the foundation of our family, forever Jim’s bride, our mom, grandma, and sister. We will cherish the memories of her kind heart, compassion, honesty, class, and wit. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her.

Annette leaves behind to mourn, her beloved husband and best friend of 55 years, James “Jim” Lynn Borthwick; her two sons Darrel and Jason; her daughter Bridget (Peter) Dry; her three grandchildren; and one brother Gord (Linda) Liner; in addition to several nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. Annette was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Marie; and her sister Susan Nielson.

A Family Graveside Service in Celebration of Annette’s Life was held at the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Marco Williams-Ste-Marie officiating. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Annette’s memory may be made directly to the Alberta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 17904-118 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5S 2W3 (www.albertaspca.org); or to any animal shelter of one’s choice. Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
