BURTON
It is with incredible sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Harvey “Harv” Bruce Burton of Rimbey, Alberta. Harv passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the age of 78 years.
Harv was born in Lacombe, Alberta and raised in the Spruceville, Alberta area. He spent most of his life living on an acreage outside of Rimbey, except for a brief period from 1978 to 1982 when they left the farm and moved to Sherwood Park. Harv worked a few different jobs starting with telephone wireline services when he was fresh out of school, and then to hauling cattle for Fred Parker, which was also when he met his lifelong partner and wife, Pat. He later found his way into construction, first with the County of Ponoka as a grader operator, then to Peets & Bjur in Strathcona County, returning to the County of Ponoka again in 1982. Harv retired in October, 2021 after 35 years of dedicated service as construction foreman, where he built countless miles of road. Harv was a devoted husband and father who valued family and hard work. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Edmonton Oilers; and if you were fortunate enough to know him, you would know he was a jokester to the very core!
Harv leaves behind his cherished family who will miss him dearly: his loving wife of 55 years, Pat; and his children, John (Kelly) Burton, Wesley Burton (Luke Lacroix), Leanne Burton, and stepdaughter, Janise (Frank) Somer. He will also be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren: Doug, Johnny, Randy, Ranelle, Chelsey, Karley, Tegan, Jessie, and Gracie; his great grandson, Jax; in addition to several nieces and nephews, other family members, and many treasured friends. Harv was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Lillian; and his brother, Ray.
A Private Family Gathering to Celebrate Harv’s Life was held in the Reception Room at Oberhammer Funeral Chapels on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes in his memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Minor Hockey Association, Box 896, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0.
