CHRISTENSON

John B. Christenson of Rimbey, Alberta passed away quietly at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 77 years.

John was born in Edmonton, Alberta on March 15, 1946, to John and Dorothy Christenson. He settled in Rimbey and married his best friend Florence on November 16, 1980. Together they owned and operated Rimbey Pizza and Steak House for many years. Every Thursday’s lunch was their specialty of New York strip steak – which was also a betting day as to how many steaks would be sold for the lunch hour. John’s favourite pastime was to play a game of crib, which he usually won! He also enjoyed fishing and golfing, and he loved to be outdoors. John was a very generous and polite man, and he will be sadly missed and cherished by all.

John will be lovingly remembered by his son Cory (Angela) Christenson of Calgary; and his stepdaughter Lisa (Paul) Poulsen of Rimbey; as well as four cherished grandchildren Connor, Camren, Brady (Kim), and Justina; and five great-grandchildren Archer, Kaydence, McKinlee, Rowan, and Braxton. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Lynn Klaver of Summerland, British Columbia; in addition to many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. John was predeceased by his wife Florence in 2012; his parents, John and Dorothy; and one sister Diane Foster.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Rimbey Long Term Care for their hard work and dedication.

With respect for John’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Wilkie Cemetery, Wilkie, Saskatchewan. If desired, memorial donations in John’s memory may be made directly to Long Term Care at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, c/o the Rimbey Hospital Legacy Committee, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0 (www.rimbeyhospitallegacycommittee.com). Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.

Perhaps you aren’t ready yet to have to say goodbye…

Perhaps you’ve thought of things you wish you’d said – well, so have I.

For one thing, I’d have told you not to worry about me…

I’m with the Lord in Heaven now –

You knew that’s where I’d be.

I’m sorry that you’re feeling sad

for I’m so happy now…

I’ve asked the Lord to ease the hurt

and comfort you somehow.

It’s hard at the beginning,

but I know you’ll make it through.

I hope it helps to know

that I’ll be waiting here for you.

“Our hearts are at peace knowing you were called home to heaven

to be reunited with your wife Florence.”
