It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wendy Lee Hanson of Breton, Alberta, a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Wendy passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the age of 66 years.

Born on October 1, 1958, in Rimbey, Alberta, Wendy lived a life filled with love, generosity, and quiet strength.  She will be remembered most for her unwavering devotion to her family and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her.  Wendy had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for.  Whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, or words of encouragement, she gave freely of herself without hesitation.  Wendy devoted her life to her family and found joy in the simple beauty of nature.  Her love of gardening reflected the way she lived – nurturing, patient, and full of care.  Wendy’s kindness, sense of humour, and gentle spirit will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.  Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother whose greatest joy was her family, and whose love will remain with them always.

Wendy will be forever remembered and dearly missed by her husband Harlen; her son Tyler Hanson of Toronto; and two daughters Bonnie-Jean (Paul) Agyeman of Edmonton; and Courtney Hanson of Breton; as well as six precious grandchildren Madelyn, Taryn, Carlin, Roslyn, Dereon, and Maylen.  She will also be dearly missed by three brothers Mike (Louise) Meinczinger of Warburg; John (Barb) Meinczinger of Breton; and Dan (Linda) Meinczinger, also of Breton; and three sisters Margaret (Mike) Prunica of Leduc; Veronica (Roger) Smith of Wetaskiwin; and Betty (Chris) Hanna of Breton; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many close friends.  Wendy was predeceased by her parents, George and Rose Meinczinger; and her daughter Kristina in 1983.

Family and friends are invited to honour Wendy’s memory at a Memorial Service in Celebration of her Life, which will be held at the Breton Community Centre, 4715 – 50 Avenue, Breton, Alberta on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Gooderham officiating.  Interment will follow in the Breton Cemetery.

If desired, the family encourages planting a tree in Wendy’s honour, so her spirit continues to bloom. Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
