HEAGY

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of David Michael Heagy ('Heags', 'Heagy', 'Davey') on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the age of 55 years, at his home in Rimbey, Alberta.

David was born on February 20, 1965 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Being raised in an oilfield-working family, his family moved where the work was; landing them in Rimbey in 1980. He was 15 years of age. David lived the majority of his adult life in the Drayton Valley area working in the oil and gas industry, returning to Rimbey six years ago. His strong mind and will of independence meant he lived his life to the fullest. Stories only he could tell. David was a big-hearted soul who was always there to lend a helping hand at the drop of a hat ... house-sitting, dog-sitting, 'Uber Dave', a bed, or a meal to anyone. He was a big 'brother' to many, and he will always be remembered for his raspy voice, infectious smile, and laugh. David enjoyed his motorcycle, hanging with friends, and seeing his nieces; but most of all, his true love was his dog, Storm. He did not venture far without Storm - she truly was his only child.

David was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Linda Heagy; as well as his dog, Storm. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his grandmother, Grace Heagy of Rockglen, Saskatchewan; his sister, Sherri (Rod) Ryckman of Red Deer; and his brother, Brent (Kelly) Heagy of Rimbey. He will also be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by several nieces and great nephews: Anesea Brown (Weston, Rueger, and Deagan) of Bentley; Lindsey and Josh Naismith (Theo) of Rocky Mountain House; Taryn Heagy of Lethbridge; and Faith Ryckman and Quinn Ryckman, both of Red Deer; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

"Ride easy, David ... until we meet again."

Family and friends will “Ride Easy” in David’s Honour at the Rock Ride in Bluffton, Alberta on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. David was a huge fan of the Rock Ride … bikes, friends, and music = Heagy Grin!
