With deep sadness we announce that Rita Lorraine Kellgren of Alder Flats, Alberta passed away peacefully in the early morning hours, with the loving support of her family by her side, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 76 years.
Born on February 14, 1949, in Edmonton, Alberta, Rita lived a life filled with love, strength, and generosity. She will be remembered most for her unwavering devotion to her family and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Rita devoted her life to enjoying her family time, gardening, and being in her kitchen where she was a master of delicious delicacies. Her kindness, sense of humour, and gentle spirit will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her. Above all, Rita will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose greatest joy was her family, and whose love will remain with them always.
Rita will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 58 years, Dwight; her son Chad (Emma) Kellgren of Alder Flats; and her three daughters Nicole Kellgren (Joe Sigurdson) of Rocky Mountain House; Rachael Kellgren (Michael Renton) of Dipper Harbour, New Brunswick; and Tina (Ken) Hutchinson of Alder Flats; as well as ten grandchildren Billy and Ashley Terry; Brady and Kate-Lynn Berger; Ty, Maddie, and Koen Hutchinson; Enrique and Fernando Crozon; and Alberto Kellgren; and one precious great-grandchild Zaya Byzitter. She will also be lovingly remembered by three sisters Pauline (Wayne) Quintal of Calahoo, Alberta; Harriette (Jay) McGeough, also of Calahoo; and Lorraine (Gary) Westerlund of Onoway, Alberta; and her sister-in-law Brenda Majeau, also of Onoway; in addition to several nieces, nephews, other family members, and many dear friends. Rita was predeceased by her parents Hector and Cecile Majeau; her brothers Phillip, Hector, and Harvey; and her parents-in-law Albert and Ivy Kellgren.
A Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held at the MacKenzie Conference Centre, 5745 – 45 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
