KLUCZNY

Phyllis Rose Kluczny of Winfield, Alberta passed away suddenly at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Edmonton on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the age of 85 years.

Phyllis was born in Millet, Alberta on September 14, 1935, the eighth child of Arthur and Mary Cartier. The family later moved to Winfield, where she met the love of her life, Walter. They were married on November 4, 1952, and to this union seven children were born. Phyllis was a life-time farmer’s wife who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time outside in nature. Not a minute did she waste - and that was her motto until the end. Phyllis was content with common sense, and she called it like she saw it. After Walter passed away in 2001, Phyllis had a sad place in her heart … but she learned that joy came back into her life through the people she loved, and those who loved her. Dancing was also something Phyllis really had a passion for. Both Phyllis and Walter were social people, so to endure these last few months of public health measures during COVID-19, Phyllis especially missed being with her dance friends. Her heartfelt concern for everyone’s well-being was felt by many, and her family and friends meant the absolute world to her.

“Phyllis’ kind and generous ways will always be missed.

She may be gone from our sight, but she will never be gone from our hearts.”

Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her children: David, Cathy (George) Ollenberger, Carol (Charles) Collisson, Michael, Brenda (Lyle) Swanson, Annette (Neil) Buschert, and Rita (Barry) Clarkson. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Michael, Christie, and Brennen Kluczny; Paul, and Devin (Tonni) Ollenberger, and Melaney (Shawn) Brownlee; Darryl and Shannon Collisson; Jordan and Madison Swanson; Michelle (Jerry) Haskell; Garrett and Dylan Buschert; and Austin and Emily Clarkson; as well as her great grandchildren: Benjamin and Lyra Ollenberger; Violet Fritz; and Lincoln, Cort, and Bowden Haskell. Phyllis will also be missed by her sister, Shirley (Don) Laczo; her sisters-in-law: Doris Kluczny, and Enid Cartier; her brother-in-law, Clarence Kluczny; in addition to many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Walter; and her siblings: Alfred (Clarice), Leo (Joan), Tom (Helen), Emile (Joyce), Agnes (Edward) Abbott, Wilfred, and Dan.

A Private Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ma-Me-O Beach, Alberta on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Sylvio Lacar, Celebrant. Phyllis was laid to rest beside her husband, Walter in the Poplar Valley Cemetery, Winfield at a later date. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Phyllis’ Memory may be made directly to Operation Smile Canada, Suite 204 - 375 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5G 2J5 (www.operationsmile.ca); or to the charity of one’s choice.
