LACZO

With the heaviest hearts we announce the sudden passing of Mark Joseph Laczo of Bluffton, Alberta on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the age of 55 years.

Mark was born on February 16, 1968, to Rosemarie and Dale Laczo in Rimbey, Alberta. He spent most of his life in Bluffton; a life that was a testament to his passion for farming, and an unwavering love for trucks, race cars, and his family. From the earliest age, Mark could be found on the farm, riding his motorbike and 4x4ing down at the river, and in any mud pit he could find.

Mark worked as a directional driller on the oil rigs for many years, where he enjoyed his work and made many lifelong friends, all while still running his farm with the intention of returning to farming full time. Yet it was his enthusiasm for big tractors and farm equipment, big trucks and race cars that truly defined his character. Mark spent countless hours at Central Alberta Raceways, where he was the go-to guy for the racetrack for many years. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, and his presence and spirit will be dearly missed by everyone in the community that he served with love and dedication. Beyond his passion for farming and racing, Mark was a devoted husband and loving father to Jessi, who was the light of his life, and with whom he spent many afternoons on various adventures around the farm.

Mark will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 26 years, Donna; his daughter Jessi; parents Rosemarie and Dale; and his sisters Angela (Neil) of Hussar, Alberta; and Roxanne of Austin, Texas. He will also be lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews, many extended family members, and a giant circle of cherished friends, neighbours, and acquaintances.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Mark’s Life was held at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre, 5109 – 54 Street, Rimbey on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Marco Williams-Ste-Marie officiating. If desired, memorial donations in Mark’s memory may be made directly to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, #100, 16812 – 114 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5M 3S2 (www.muscle.ca). Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
