On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Verna Doris Lentz of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 89 years.
Verna was born on May 18, 1934 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She worked as a cashier for many years at Debaji Foods in Wetaskiwin, and took great pleasure in selling her perfectly-crafted lawn ornaments at the local Farmer’s Markets.
Verna is survived by her family: two sons Keith (Arlene), and Kevin (Cathy); in addition to her cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Jason (Tara), Alyssa (Matt), Kyle, and Travis; and treasured great-grandchildren Carter, Justin, Owen, Dylan, and Caleb. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry; two infant children Marsha and Kenneth; and her parents Ed and Anna Lentz.
The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at the Red Deer Hospital Palliative Care Unit, as well as to the comforting No One Dies Alone (NODA) program volunteers.
A Private Family Gathering to Celebrate Verna’s Life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest with her husband Harry in the Peace Hills Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Wetaskiwin. If desired, memorial donations in Verna’s memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
