MULLIGAN
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of David “Dave” Brian Mulligan of Rimbey, Alberta. Dave passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Dave was born in Bournemouth, Hampshire, England on August 16, 1939. Arriving in Canada in 1945 as a young lad of six years, he resided with his parents in Ontario. At the age of 17, Dave joined the Canadian Air Force. Shortly after, he was formally mustered – recruited and specifically selected into the military police force – which then lead to a career with the Calgary Police Service. After a stint with the Calgary Police, semi-retirement brought Dave to the Rimbey area where he and his late wife, Betty, opened an accounting firm. After Betty’s passing in 2001, Dave formally retired.
Dave was privileged to find the love of his life, Vivian, and they were united in marriage on June 10, 2006. They resided in the Rimbey area until recently, when health issues helped them make the decision to relocate to Olds, Alberta. Dave was an avid floor curler and bowler, enjoying the activities at both the Rimbey and Buck Lake Seniors Centres that kept him busy for many years.
Left to mourn Dave’s passing is his loving wife of 17 years, Vivian; his daughter Susan of Bermuda; his sister Maureen of Ontario; many extended family members; as well as his Buck Lake floor curling buddies. We can never thank everyone enough for the care and concern shown by all during Dave’s illness.
A Funeral Service Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at the Anglican Church of the Epiphany, Rimbey on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend David Holmes officiating. A Private Family Interment Service will follow in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
