OSBALDESTON

With broken hearts, but beautiful memories, the family of Kay Frances Osbaldeston (née Browne) of Rimbey, Alberta sadly announces her passing.  With her loving daughters by her side, Kay passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 83 years.

Kay was born in Rimbey on May 4, 1940, to Jack and Eva Browne.  She moved to Rimbey to work at the first telephone office in the community, helping her grandmother Ada Browne.  Kay met and married Cody Bengtson in 1961.   They made their home in Rimbey and were blessed with two daughters Brenda and Pam.  Kay was later united in marriage to Dave Osbaldeston in 1985.  Throughout her life, she was employed in some very interesting jobs; from cooking at the Auction Mart, as a desk clerk at the hotel, to managing the Grand Hotel.  One of her favourite jobs was working at Blooms Etc. flower shop, which she enjoyed very much.  Kay was hard-working, possessed a great sense of humour, could catch you off-guard with her witty comments, took great enjoyment in playing bingo, and most of all… loved and cherished her family deeply.

She will be greatly missed.

Kay leaves behind her daughters Brenda Lewis (Greg Conway), and Pam Elliot, both of Rimbey; as well as three treasured grandsons Cody (Rhea), Dustin, and Milton; and three precious great-grandchildren Jyden, Izzy, and Kinsley.  She also leaves behind three brothers Harold (Barbel) Browne of Calgary; Bill (Deb) Browne of Sorrento, British Columbia; and Vern (Val) Browne of Rimbey; a special niece, Dyanna, who spent many summers on the family farm with Kay; along with numerous additional nieces and nephews, several cousins, and many close friends.  Kay was predeceased by her parents Jack and Eva.

A Celebration in Kay’s Honour will be held in the summer of 2024.  If desired, memorial donations in her memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre – Area One, c/o the Rimbey Hospital Legacy Committee, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta  T0C 2J0 (www.rimbeyhospitallegacycommittee.com).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
