With sadness we announce that Russell “Russ” Roland Robson of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at Extendicare Michener Hill, Red Deer on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Russ was born on May 26, 1932 in Bentley, and as a young man met his soul-mate and best friend, Joyce Stevenson. They were united in marriage on February 4, 1955 in Rimbey, and celebrated their milestone 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2005. For 35 years, Russ and Joyce lived and farmed in the beautiful Lockhart Valley, where they raised their family of five children. In 1992 they retired and sold their farm, moving into the Town of Rimbey. Upon his retirement, Russ always had time for a good cup of coffee, a fun card game, and a challenging round of golf. He also enjoyed cheering on his favourite NHL hockey team, the Calgary Flames. In his lifetime, Russell was passionate about many things; especially raising cattle and the blessings of life on the farm, but his greatest love of all was for his family.
Russ is now at rest with his beloved wife, Joyce, and oldest son, Wane. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his two sons, Lee (Tina) Robson of Rimbey; and Doug (Karen) Robson of Calgary; and his two daughters, Debbie (Bev) Kallis of Red Deer; and Cheryl (Duane) Daines of Innisfail; in addition to five cherished grandchildren and one great grandson. As well, he will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, other family members, and many valued friends. Russ was also predeceased by his parents, Grover and Lily Robson; and his siblings, Allen Robson and Laura Sambrook.
Russ’ Family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Extendicare Michener Hill. The attention and support provided to Russ these last two years made his life comfortable, due to their kind and compassionate care.
A Graveside Service in Celebration of Russ’ Life will be held at the Bentley Cemetery, Bentley on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with his nephew, Mark Stevenson presiding. He will be laid to rest beside his wife and son.
