We are sad to announce that Stuart “Stu” Douglas Shippy of Crestomere, Alberta passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 62 years.


Stuart was born in Weiser, Idaho on September 6, 1959, and immigrated as a child to Bluffton, Alberta in 1969. He was clever, generous, and enjoyed making people laugh. Stuart and his brother owned a heavy equipment construction company, and he was very passionate about running equipment. He always said that his customers weren’t just his customers, but they were truly his friends. In the off season, Stuart loved to travel, with Hawaii being one of his favourite destinations. He also loved to golf, ride his motorcycle, and visit with family and friends. In his younger years, Stuart was an avid hunter with many cherished trophies.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.”


Stuart will be lovingly remembered by his family; four brothers: Mark of Bluffton, Bob of Roswell, Idaho, Steve (Lynda) of Bluffton, and Greg (Lissa) also of Bluffton; and five sisters:  Peggy Struble of Roswell, Idaho, Polly (Jim) Evans of Enid, Oklahoma, Patty (Larry) Denton of Oakwood, Oklahoma, Kay (Adam) Grinde of Teslin, Yukon, and Debrah Ruggs of the United States. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law, Harvey Goetz of Bluffton; in addition to many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous cherished friends. Stuart was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lorene; and his sister, Phyllis Goetz.


A Graveside Service in Celebration of Stuart’s Life was held at the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Harold Grinde officiating. Condolence messages may be forwarded to the family by visiting: www.ofc-ltd.ca
