It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pennilyn “Penni” Marlette Turner of Rimbey, Alberta, who passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the age of 81 years.

Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Penni was the cherished daughter of Norma and Harold Ariss, and one of eight siblings.  She was a devoted mother to three much-loved children Elizabeth, Mark, and Scott, who were her greatest treasures – her heart and soul.  She later met and was united in marriage to Malcolm Turner, the love of her life, in October 1994.  Together they spent 31 wonderful years devoted to each other; building a life filled with love, faith, and family.

Penni was deeply dedicated to her church and lived her life guided by her Christian faith.  She shared that faith generously with her family and friends, offering comfort, wisdom, and love through both word and example.    Professionally, Penni worked in administrative roles across various companies, where her diligence and attention to detail left a lasting impression.  She concluded her career with 15 fulfilling years at the Rimbey Jr./Sr. High School, where she was a valued and respected member of the school community.

A woman of many talents and quiet joys, Penni loved her flowers and found great peace in her garden.  She was a gifted craftswoman, spending countless hours crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, and quilting.  Penni also enjoyed cooking family dinners, baking, and the occasional game of bingo, where her playful spirit and love of community shone through.  She will be remembered for her gentle strength, her unwavering love for family, and the warmth she brought into every room.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Penni will be greatly missed by her loving husband Malcolm; her children Elizabeth D’Amico (Trevor Duthie), and Mark (Mayra) Lizee; and her daughter-in-law Cara Lizee.  Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren Shane, Frankie, Cody, Mackenzie, Madison, Rikkie, and Paula; and her great-grandchildren Kaedence, Nolan, Wally, Peyton, and Braelyn.  Penni is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Ted (Carol) Ariss, Dan Ariss, and Phil (Sandra) Ariss; along with her brothers- and sisters-in-law Joan, Jim, Lynn, and Gerald; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.  Penni was predeceased by her parents; her son Scott; and her siblings Greg, Colleen, Randy, and Marlene.

A Memorial Service in Celebration of Penni’s Life will be held at the Rimbey Church of the Nazarene, 5214–51 Street, Rimbey on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Reginald Lartec officiating.  If desired, memorial donations in Penni’s memory may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT, #306, 10430 – 61 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta  T6H 2J3 (www.alzheimer.ca), in honour of Penni’s compassionate spirit and enduring legacy.  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.

Malcolm, I was saddened to see that Penni passed away. I am thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. Penni was an amazing, friendly and loving person. She was always so kind to "us kids" in school. Always with a never-ending smile, she made our days in school so much better. I wish I could be there for her service but unfortunately I will be away but I will think of you all that day and hold you close to my heart. Dan, it's been a long time please reach out to me so we can reconnect stevenorstrom@yahoo.ca
