It is with profound shock and sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Carl “Dwight” Wheeler of Rimbey, Alberta on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 76 years, as the result of a sudden heart attack.  The family is heartbroken and deeply saddened by this sudden loss.

Born on October 6, 1949, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Dwight was the beloved son of Amos and Ella Wheeler.  He was known for his generous spirit and kind heart.  Dwight dedicated his life as an electrician, working for Syncrude Canada in Fort McMurray, Alberta.  Upon his retirement he continued doing what he loved, which was renovating homes and doing electrical work alongside his son and grandson.  Dwight loved exercising and eating healthy; he always said, “I’m going to live to be 100!”  He was such an amazing and inspirational man.

Dwight will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his son Doug and daughter-in-law Lynne; as well as his grandchildren Sean, Sara, and Samantha.  He will also be dearly missed by four brothers and their spouses:  Dana and Gladys, Gary and Debbie, Wayne and Agnes, and Blair; two sisters Daphne and Lynn; in addition to Doug’s mother and stepfather Joan and Steven; along with all of Joan’s family; numerous nieces and nephews; several other relatives; and many close friends. 

Family and friends are invited to honour Dwight’s memory at a family-hosted Celebration of his Life which will be held at the Keyera Place Community Centre – Upper Auditorium (north entrance), 5109 - 54 Street, Rimbey on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  If desired, memorial donations in Dwight’s memory may be made directly to Amy’s House Foundation – a home away from home for cancer patients – Head Office 11543 – 40 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta  T6J 0R7 (www.amyshouse.ca).

Doug, Lynne & family,

We too ,were shocked and saddened to hear of Dwight's passing.

We have many fond memories of the times we spent together in Ontario and here at home, NL. back in the day!

Doug to you, your families & friends we hope all the good memories you both shared will bring you comfort as this most difficult time.
