With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Adolf R. Adam of Rimbey, Alberta. Adolf passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 92 years.
Adolf was born on January 19, 1933, in Compeer, Alberta. He was raised by his parents Gustav and Augusta Adam and enjoyed many adventures with his siblings. Adolf and Lillian were married on October 22, 1966, and took over the family farm and dairy in Ardrossan, Alberta. They welcomed three sons to their union and took care of 75 foster children over a span of five years. In 1979, Adolf and Lillian and their family relocated to Rimbey where Adolf utilized his creative and artistic side to manicure their farm and build anything that popped into his imagination. He spent many hours on his quad touring the farm, and many more hours puttering in the shop building things out of anything he could get his hands on! Adolf was notorious for making everyone laugh and smile – whether it was his jokes or his pranks – there was never a dull moment when he was around. He also possessed a strong love for music and was always willing to play a song or two on his harmonica. Adolf lived a full life surrounded by an active belief and faith. He will be dearly missed.
Adolf is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lillian; his three sons Lorne (Terisa) of Langley, B.C.; Shane (Michele) of Airdrie; and Allen (Lisa) of Rimbey; as well as eight cherished grandchildren Alexandria, Austin, Kassandra, Brandon, Tina, Adrien, Blaire, and Colton; and four precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers Leon of Rimbey; and Gussie (Faye) of Bashaw; one sister of Sherwood Park; one sister-in-law Erna Adam of Camrose; in addition to several nieces and nephews; his extended family in Germany; and many close friends. Adolf was predeceased by his parents; along with two brothers and a sister.
A Funeral Service to Celebrate Adolf’s Life will be held at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite (formerly the Zion Lutheran Church), 4521 – 54 Avenue, Rimbey on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the unique time of 1:06 p.m., with Pastor Mark Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey. Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
