It is with great sadness that the family of Leon Adam, of Rimbey, Alberta, announces his peaceful passing at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the age of 99 years.

Leon was born in Poland in 1927 and immigrated to Canada at ten months of age.  He was raised in Sherwood Park, Alberta alongside his four brothers and two sisters.  In 1951, Leon married the love of his life, Luella.  They lived in Redwater and Stettler, Alberta, where they raised their two children Janelle and David.  In 1972, they finally settled in Rimbey where they welcomed three grandchildren Shireen, Jennifer, and Dustyn.  Leon was a proud family man, and he took his kids and grandkids on many trips throughout the years.  He was always there to help his family whenever they needed him.

Leon was well known in Rimbey and provided many of the Christmas lights throughout town.  He was an avid member of the “Senators” club and was also active at the Rimbey Seniors Drop-In Centre.  Leon could be found golfing or curling in his free time.  Upon Luella’s passing, he once again married and spent many years with his second wife, Betty.  Leon travelled and camped extensively and has made many memories with his family and friends on these trips.  Anyone who was lucky enough to know Leon, knew that he was a perfectionist when it came to any project he was working on.

Leon is survived by his daughter Janelle Adam of Rimbey; his son David Adam of Edmonton; his beloved grandchildren Shireen (James) Hutton, Jennifer (Ken) Parker, and Dustyn Picketts; as well as his great-grandchildren Joshua, Tyera, Dezirae, Deagen, and Elisabeth.  He will be remembered by his surviving siblings Olga (Eric) Felske and Gussie (Faye) Adam; his sisters-in-law Lillian and Erna; in addition to many nieces and nephews.  Leon was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Augusta Adam; his first wife Luella; his second wife Betty; his brothers Bill, Arthur, and Adolf; his sister Millie; a brother-in-law Mike Serink; and a sister-in-law Enid.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Rimbey Long Term Care for taking such good care of him.

A Family-hosted Celebration of Leon’s Life will be held at the Rimbey Seniors Drop-in Centre, 5110 – 53 Avenue, Rimbey on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.  Interment will precede the celebration at 2:00 p.m. at the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.  If desired, memorial donations in Leon’s memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre – Long Term Care, c/o the Rimbey Hospital Legacy Committee, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0 (www.rimbeyhospitallegacycommittee.com).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
