RETZLAFF

With broken hearts we share the passing of Terence “Terry” D. Retzlaff of Rimbey, Alberta.  Terry passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Terry was an incredible husband, dad, and grandpa.  He loved his family with all his heart, and they loved him immensely in return.  He worked with Alberta Parks for 42 years; and in his free time he enjoyed golfing, curling, camping, kayaking, and playing cards with his friends.  Terry was extremely outgoing and would talk to everybody; whether he just saw someone at random, or they were life-long friends.  He kept in touch with old co-workers and treated everyone with respect.  Terry also had a huge heart, and would always help anyone who needed it.  His family can’t express enough about the many wonderful attributes Terry possessed.  There simply is not a sufficient amount of words to express what an amazing, loving, and caring person Terry was.  He will be profoundly missed.

Terry leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Deb; his son Grant Retzlaff of Rimbey; and his daughter Pam (Ryan) Shumski of Red Deer; as well as five precious grandchildren Mya, Morgan, Savanna, Xavier, and Zoe.  He will also be lovingly remembered by one brother Gary Retzlaff of Ontario; one sister Marilyn (Ryan) Gotzki of Calgary; in addition to his nieces; several other relatives; and many cherished friends.  Terry was predeceased by his parents Irene and Victor.

With respect for the family’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.  If desired, memorial donations in Terry’s memory may be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association, PO Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alberta  T6E 6K2 (www.ablung.ca).   Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
