It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darren Alden Robert Stewart of Condor, Alberta, at the age of 59 years, after a brief battle with cancer. Darren passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre on Saturday, November 8, 2025. His family is heartbroken and deeply saddened by this sudden loss.
Darren was born on December 3, 1965, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta to Danny and Pat Stewart. He attended school in Condor, graduating from the David Thompson High School in 1984. Darren completed his apprenticeship in autobody mechanics and worked as a tradesman in this field for many years, enjoying this as a hobby as well.
The biggest passion in Darren’s life was music. His dad taught him to play guitar at a very young age, and it didn’t take long for others to realize that Darren was a natural talent. He was able to play many instruments, and he excelled at each one. Darren proficiently used these talents while playing with a variety of bands throughout the years, all who became like another family to him.
Darren will be sadly missed by his parents Danny and Pat; his sister Sandra Stewart (Dave Carlile); his very special friend Carol Nelson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins; along with many cherished bandmates and treasured friends.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Rob and Nan Dann; his paternal grandparents, Russell and Verona Stewart; in addition to his uncles Gordon “Bunky” and Ed; and his aunts Valerie, Caroline, and Shirley.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. D. Dowling and the staff at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre for their excellent care and support.
A Memorial Service in Celebration of Darren’s Life will be held at the Condor Community Centre, 642 Condor Road, Condor, Alberta on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Hespero Cemetery, Clearwater County.
If desired, memorial donations in Darren’s memory may be made directly to the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre – Palliative Care, c/o the Rocky Mountain House and Area Health Services Foundation, 5016 – 52 Avenue, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta T4T 1T2 (www.rockyhealthfoundation.ca); or to the Condor Community Centre, Box 692, Condor, Alberta T0M 0P0. Pat and Danny…what can I say that will help your hearts to heal? He was too young to leave us. Unfortunately, we have no say in how or when we will pass. I know I haven’t seen him for a long time but I have very fond memories of him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart. He will be greatly missed. Sending you lots of love and hugs. ❤️🙏🏻 Leona Lewis

As I think of Darren’s family and send them heartfelt condolences at this sad time, I will always remember his laughter and brilliant smile. I enjoyed his musical talent and wonderful voice. I am very sad that he left us all so soon. There are some songs that I’ve learned because of Darren’s influence and will think of him every time I play them. My sister Dixie, referred to Darren as a gentleman even at an early age. A special guy; he will be missed always.
