PLUMB

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Carol Plumb of Bluffton, Alberta. She passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the age of 77 years.

Carol was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on June 3, 1942 to Edward and Helene Jehn. She grew up in the Pipestone area west of Wetaskiwin, and attended school in Pipestone and Calmar. Carol’s father passed away when she was only 12 years old, and when she was able, Carol worked to help support herself and her family. After her mother was remarried to Ralph Cudmore, the family relocated to Rimbey where Carol completed her Grade 12 education. Following graduation, she was employed with A.G.T. in Rimbey and Calgary. In 1964, Carol was united in marriage to Gordon Plumb and they resided in Drayton Valley and Rimbey until 1969. The young couple then embarked on an adventure together; travelling and working in Australia, New Zealand, and England. In 1971 they arrived back in Alberta, settling in Rocky Mountain House for several years before returning to farm near Rimbey. Carol enjoyed many career accomplishments in the accounting, retail, and real estate professions. She was active in the Kinette Club for many years; and also served on the board of the Rimbey and District Cultural and Recreational Society, the organization that was instrumental in the building of the Rimbey (Peter Lougheed) Community Centre. Carol took great pleasure in spending her free time quilting, curling, golfing, and in any of the social aspects of skiing! She also possessed a passion for seeing new places and new things ~ so to embark on trips in later years to Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and the east coast of Canada ~ were several dreams fulfilled. But Carol’s biggest love … was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. This brought her the greatest joy of all!

Carol will always be remembered and greatly missed by her beloved husband, Gordon; and her loving children: her son, Mitchell Plumb (Tryane) of Bluffton, and their family: Ethan and Kyra; and her daughter, Christine Plumb (Steve) of Rimbey, and their family: Katelyn, Ashley, Steven, and Amy. She will also be lovingly remembered by two brothers, Bill Jehn (Donna) of Fort St. John, B.C.; and Dallas Jehn also of Fort St. John, B.C.; and one sister, Linda (Buzz) Campbell of Rimbey; in addition to several nieces and nephews, other family members, and many close and cherished friends. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Helene Jehn.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Carol’s Life was held at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre, Rimbey on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend David Holmes officiating. She will be laid to rest at a later date in the Columbarium at the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey.
