ENGBLOM

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Evert Engblom of Winfield, Alberta.  Victor passed away, with his wife Jeanette by his side, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 80 years.

Born in 1945, Victor spent his life on the farm that was homesteaded in 1920 by his father Eric.  He was diagnosed with advanced COPD in 2017, which required some hospital stays.  To assist with the additional travelling, Victor and Jeanette purchased a condo in Rimbey in 2023.  Health issues limited his socialization, but Victor appreciated those who he could visit with when in public.

Victor is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanette; his son Todd, with grandson Aiden; and his daughter and son-in-law Michelle and John, with grandson Jackson and granddaughter Brooklyn, and their dad Kris.  He is also survived by his sister Rita and family; his brother-in-law Ernie Mockerman (Alice) and family; along with additional relatives and many good friends.  Victor was predeceased by his father Eric in 1982; his mother Karin in 2000; as well as other family members.

Jeanette and family would like to thank the kitchen, housekeeping, and nursing staff at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre and at the Rimbey Medical Clinic for their compassion, especially those who provided gentler care to Victor.  As well, thank you to Josh and Trish at the Evergreen Co-op Pharmacy.  A special note of appreciation is extended to Dr. Moore, formerly of Ponoka, and to Dr. Rylance of Rimbey for listening with caring and compassionate hearts.   

Victor’s family will host a Memorial Service in Celebration of his Life at the Winfield Agriplex - Main Hall, Winfield on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.  A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow.  He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Maywood Cemetery, Buck Lake.
