Elaine Ann Hansen of Rimbey, Alberta went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care, just days before her 82nd birthday. Her life was a testimony of faith, love, and unwavering devotion to God.
“Her life’s journey was not always easy, but her destination is perfect.”
Elaine was born in High River, Alberta to Frank and Jean Hansen. She spent her early childhood on the family farm near Blackie, Alberta before moving in the spring of 1952 to the family farm west of Three Hills, Alberta. Elaine attended the Blackie School, then the Allingham School until its closure, and continued her education at the Torrington School, where she graduated.
Following graduation, Elaine worked in Three Hills and Red Deer before entering nursing school in Lamont, Alberta, where she trained as a registered nurse. Her nursing career took her across Alberta, British Columbia, Oregon (USA), and the United Kingdom. Elaine later pursued further education at St. Stephen’s University in New Brunswick, continuing to grow both professionally and spiritually.
Yet beyond all her accomplishments, Elaine’s greatest passion was to serve her Lord. She lived out her faith daily – through acts of kindness, caring for others, offering comfort to the hurting, and faithfully sharing the message of the Gospel.
Elaine was known for her generous spirit and servant’s heart. She opened her life to others, often providing care and support to those in need, including hospice care. Whether with family, friends, or strangers, Elaine sought to be a light for Christ – bringing warmth, encouragement, and hope wherever she went. Her joyful presence will be remembered through her infectious laugh, her ever-present candies and treats she loved to share, her deep love for her dogs, and her readiness to speak about her faith. Time spent with Elaine – whether in large family gatherings or quiet visits – was always marked by love, laughter, and a gentle reflection of God’s grace.
Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Ernie (Marg) Hansen of Calgary and Bill Hansen of Rimbey; her sisters Frances Simpson (Martin Reedyk) of Three Hills and Connie Hansen of Rimbey; as well as thirteen nieces and nephews; twenty-one great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Jean Hansen; and her brother Alfred.
“Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her family rejoices in the assurance that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord, whom she faithfully served throughout her life.”
The family would like to thank all the caring staff – which includes all doctors and nurses, as well as all the staff in housekeeping, laundry, dietary, and maintenance at the Drumheller Care Centre, Rimbey Home Care, and in Long Term Care at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, for helping look after Elaine with compassion and support along her life’s journey.
A Celebration of Elaine’s Life will be held at the Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, 123–4 Avenue E, Three Hills, Alberta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Tom Peachey officiating. Interment will precede the service in the Three Hills Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
