On the morning of Friday, January 9, 2026, our forever-loved mom and grandma passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Barbara “Anne” McIlravey of Red Deer, Alberta was born on November 21, 1945, in Penetanguishene, Ontario to Edward and Clarice Beausoleil. She was the youngest of four siblings: Allan, Margaret, and Helen.
On October 20, 1962, Anne married her beloved husband, Terry McIlravey, and they began their life together in Powell River, British Columbia. While in Powell River, they made lifelong friendships and became a family of ten.
In 1977, the family moved inland to Cranbrook, British Columbia, where the family doubled the Sunday school attendance. In 1979, a final move to Red Deer, Alberta was made, where they became active members of the Woodlea (Streams Christian) Church. Anne enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being involved in women’s ministries. In 1981, the family was completed with the arrival of another baby girl.
Anne was a devoted stay-at-home mom who loved her morning coffee, rocking a baby, big family meals, and a good game of cards. Her greatest title was ‘Grandma’, with a promotion to ‘Great-grandma’ in later years.
“A beloved daughter, sister, wife, ‘my mom’, grandma, great-grandma, auntie,
and friend – you will be sorely missed.
Holidays will not be the same without Easter bags, steal gifts, peanut butter cereal cookies, and caramel corn. Your legacy will live on strong. Love you, my mom.”
Anne is lovingly remembered by her older sister and best friend, Helen Wright; and her children: Mike (Bev), Laurie (Tim) Carruthers, Wayne (Tracy), Wanda, Shelley (Dave) Scheffelmair, Tim (Kerri), Chris (Laurie), Craig (Shannon), and Cheryl (Jason) Dirks. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Heather (Devlin), Joshua (Skye), Andrew (Meagan), Jessica (Chris), Jonathan (Dixie), Annie, Breanne, Alyssa (Jerret), Adam (Nicole), Melanie (Connor), Mark (Charlene), Eric (Avery), Elizabeth (Justin), Julia, Kiara, Claire, Lilly, Eryk, Colin, and Emily; as well as her great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Lauren, Jackson, Madison, Drew, Zach, Sydney-Lynn, Zoey, Cyrus, Arlo, Nora, Brynn, Lennie, Zachary, Cooper, Gavin, Baby Scheffelmair, Dougie, Easton, Jayden, and Ellie. Anne was predeceased by her much-loved and deeply missed husband, Terrance Adam; her great-grandsons Rory Terrance and Jacob Rory; her parents; her brother and sister, along with many loved in-laws.
A Memorial Service in Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held at the Streams Church, 5350 – 46 Avenue, Red Deer on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Gerry Jeske officiating.
