Edwin “Ed” Zaiser of Lacombe County, Alberta, beloved husband of Colleen, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 65 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ed was born on June 7, 1960, in Delligsen, Lower Saxony, Germany. He was a hard-working and dedicated man. Ed spent over 30 years working in the window manufacturing industry and travelled all over Canada and the United States setting up window manufacturing plants. Upon retiring, Ed and Colleen moved to the country. He loved taking care of their acreage, which took him back to the farm life of his childhood. Ed also enjoyed construction and working with wood. He could build anything. Ed always made time for his family and friends. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity; and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Ed is survived by his wife Colleen; his two daughters Heidi Zaiser (Scott Carter) of Calgary; and Bonnie Zaiser (Robb Lallier) also of Calgary; as well as his grandsons Nathan Roloson and Josh Roloson; and his granddaughter Taylor Zaiser, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his siblings: sister Olga (Ted) Blacquier of Taber; sister Valentine Traichel of Brooks; brother Victor (Joann) Zaiser of Taber; sister Brigitte (Jay) Doolittle of Taber; brother Edmund Zaiser of Taber; and brother Oscar Jr. (Terri) Zaiser also of Taber; in addition to many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. Ed was predeceased by his mother Katherina Zaiser; his father Oskar Zaiser; and his brother Ewald Zaiser.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the many friends who provided support, comfort, and love during this difficult time.
A family-hosted Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at the Forshee Community Hall, 41422 Range Road 20, Lacombe County, Alberta on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Richard Adrian officiating.
