DEAL
It is with great sadness that the family of Elmer Deal of Rimbey, Alberta announces that he went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
Elmer was born to Dave and Julia Deal in Champion, Alberta on April 4, 1933. He spent his growing-up years farming with his dad. In 1959, Elmer was married to Joyce Steeves, and together they raised four children on the family farm south of Champion. In 1987, Elmer and Joyce moved to Rimbey where he was employed with NAPA Auto Parts until his retirement. Elmer’s great love was his children and grandchildren. The arrival of great grandchildren into his life brought great joy and twinkles to his eyes.
Elmer will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Joyce; his son, Dwain (Angela) Deal of Sundre; and his daughters: Danita Deal of Rimbey, Kathy (Berwyn) Maconochie of Hoadley, and Debbie (John) Matson of Bluffton; as well as sixteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Janette and Edward Oke, Marge and Wilf Wiens, and Sharon and Richard Fehr; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many close friends. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Julia Deal; his sister, Vivien and her husband, Don Steeves; his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Amy Steeves; and his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Betty and George Cox, Jean and Orville Budd, June and John Wilson, and Jack and Ila Steeves.
In keeping with the provincial gathering restrictions at the time, a Family Funeral Service in Celebration of Elmer’s Life was held at the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church, Hoadley on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Budd and Pastor Terry Oke officiating. For those who wished, the service was also live streamed simultaneously via the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church’s YouTube page. A Private Family Interment preceded the service in the Hoadley Cemetery.
