ADAMS

Richard Lee Adams of Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Acute Care on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the age of 74 years.

Richard was born in Rimbey to Peter and Margaret Adams, the fourth of their six sons. In his early years he lived on his grandfather’s farm east of Rimbey in the summer, and moved with the family to the sawmill site west of Rimbey for the winter months, where they lived in a small cabin. It was truly a homesteader’s life. Later the family moved to their own farm, and as the boys grew they had plenty of work to do. Their cousins came to spend the summer and also took part in fall hunting trips so there was fun as well, making good memories. It was a childhood many today would envy. Richard lived on the farm with his parents for most of his life, but did have his own place for a few years. During this time he was blessed with the friendship and extraordinary kindness of his close neighbours. A few years before his mom passed, he moved back to the family home. Over the years, Richard spent a lot of time with his dad. With others, they restored a lath mill, and in the summer they enjoyed getting together with a crew to put on mill demonstrations at local country fairs. Perhaps Richard’s happiest times were when he joined his younger brother, Russell, to entertain by singing and playing his guitar at a circuit of care homes in Rimbey and surrounding communities. He liked to visit and made many friends there. Part of their program was gospel music, a way to share an abiding Christian faith. After his dad passed, Richard moved to the Rimbey Valley View Manor where he resided until his passing.

Richard will be missed by his family, who carry their special memories of him: his brothers, Gerald (Donna), Brian (Beverly), Stuart (Judy), Ronald (Janet), and Russell (Lori); many nephews, nieces and their children; his dear aunt, Peggy (Lyle) Wahl; as well as numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents; two sisters-in-law, Helen Adams and Dallas Adams; his nephew, Stanley Adams; and many aunts and uncles.
