GHESEGER

Kenneth “Ken” William Gheseger Jr. of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the age of 76 years.

Ken was born on April 25, 1947 in Lacombe, Alberta. He was known for living life to the fullest, and his favourite place to do so was in his boat. Ken loved boating at Gleniffer Lake or Gull Lake, salmon fishing in British Columbia, or fishing in any type of water with his family and friends. Many of his past employees would say that he would give the shirt off his back. Ken’s family would say that his homemade pepperoni, beef jerky, pork cutlets, and canning “care packages” were all made with love – as his printed notes on the package would express. All will remember Ken admiring a beautiful cut of meat that he made with pride and joy, when gathering at the storytime family suppers.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his partner Janet Lethbridge of Red Deer; his daughters Tracey Leavitt (Ivan) of Millet; Stacy Gheseger of Red Deer; and Ashley Lethbridge, also of Red Deer. He was a loving grandfather to Alannah Leavitt (Kyle) of Edmonton; and Nicole Leavitt (Tyler) of the County of Wetaskiwin. Ken will also be fondly remembered by his brother Keith (Barb) of Nanaimo, British Columbia; along with many cousins, additional family members, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Ken Sr. in 1994; his mother Clarene in 2009; his wife Kaye in 2015; and a sister Muriel Lynn in 1986.

A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at By-the-Lake Park, 6128 – 56 Avenue, Wetaskiwin, Alberta on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Bentley Cemetery, Bentley. If desired, memorial donations in Ken’s memory may be made directly to the Millet and District Historical Society (Charity), Box 178, Millet, Alberta T0C 1Z0 (or by e-Transfer to info@milletmuseum.ca). Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
